Tian Ip, a prominent musician in Vancouver, started playing classical piano when she was four and guzheng (Chinese harp) when she was nine. After garnering a piano performance diploma from the Associated Board of Royal School of Music at the age of 16, Tian pursued further music education in audio engineering from the Art Institute of Vancouver, choral conducting and general music studies from Capilano University, as well as a degree in pipe organ performance (with a minor in music technology) from the University of British Columbia.

Q&As

Who doesn't love music? I love to connect with people from all over the world, with different life experiences, through playing music. It gives me tremendous satisfaction in helping adults and children express themselves and find joy in learning an instrument. I believe that music is a skill that applies to many areas in life; it is a discipline crucial for a child's learning.

With today's technology and everyone constantly looking at a smart device or laptop, I think it is important to express one self, and to be able to communicate other than using social media. Music is a great language that reaches to everyone around the world, and soothes the souls of those who plays as well as those who listens.

I am committed to helping my students get to where they want musically. If you want to learn pop music, to accompany yourself singing, to learn classical piano, to learn theory, I am there to help. Having worked in many areas and with many groups in the music industry, I can cater to my student's age, interest and learning style.
