I help clients reach their goals by helping them identify the “why” (or deeper layer to their goal). From there I truly listen and co-create an effective plan to reach the consistency to incrementally reach their goal. Most of all, I introduce them to the effects of “focused workouts”, where they will discover the mindful element of working out that de-stresses the mind and body, is empowering, and gives a positive feeling that spills into other parts of life. This experience is the true key as clients continue to workout to maintain this positive mental and physical feeling and goals are then met but without undue stress or obsessive focus on them.

A body of your dream is a body that you dream about because it expresses values that you wish to live by. I help connect people to the why they aspire towards a change in their body. When a person really connects to the deeper meaning - or intrinsic motivation for change - motivation truly becomes stronger and enduring. The body then simply becomes a reflection of who we want to be for ourselves and for others. Every body is beautiful and full of wellness when we let it be a vehicle to our values. I also believe that movement is the greatest medicine - but nobody wants to take medicine that tastes bad - so creating joyful movement experiences is key!

I worked for almost 18 years as a practicing nurse in long term care and have seen both musculoskeletal conditions, chronic physical and mental conditions deteriorate to the point of being completely dependant on government run care. We often think that we have all the time in the world - but it is at whatever age we are at that we can build that bone density, muscle strength, re-wire the brain through the positive brain chemicals of exercising… The body and brain keeps building and repairing itself - starting the process today at any age will help - you are never too late fortunately! However, taking our health into our own hands, before we require the need for hospital or nursing home care is ideal! This is why I named my business “Own Your Health Fitness”!

I think I have a lot to offer clients. I am a very valued oriented person and my biggest goal will always be to truly empower clients! I am creative in helping people get motivated and overcome barriers. My many fitness certifications and nursing background have given me a keen sense of observation and teaching abilities to ensure proper form and avoid injury.

I have mostly worked in person. I prefer to work online with clients that I’ve worked with in person already when it comes to personal training. I do offer phone or Zoom sessions for wellness coaching even for new clients.

I am fully vaccinated (including the booster) and will wear a mask if it makes the client more comfortable snd the client can choose to wear a mask or not). I have worked outdoors with clients in a covered location with sanitized equipment. At the gym I work from, every client is given a scent free disinfectant and fresh towel to disinfect equipment before and after use.

Services

I offer one-to-one, partner or small group personal training. I train clients at Genesis Athletic Club in North Vancouver (clients do not need to be members of the gym). I also train in clients’ homes, in clients’ apartment gyms, or in an outdoor covered location in West Vancouver.
I create client specific exercise programs tailored to your goals, strengths, limitations and tastes.

I collaborate with clients to find healthy ways to deal with stress that interferes with their health and their goals of living a healthy lifestyle. I partner with clients to turn their intentions for change into actionable steps that lead to sustained change. Together we work on renewed mindset, overcoming barriers to change through the practice of moving forward into valued actions while practicing mindfulness.

I work with clients to assess musculoskeletal misalignments and create corrective exercise programs to reduce/prevent chronic pain and movement dysfunction to prevent injury.
