Q&As

We are committed to understanding families and run an inclusive practice rooted in family law.

We are a law firm exclusively practicing in family and child protection law.

We can provide all services via telephone, video or in-person. We prioritize contacting potential clients, who provide us with as many details about their case as possible.

Services

Family Law Litigation is comprised of many components.

It can include:
- decision-making responsibility and parenting time (formerly "custody" and "access") of children;
- child support, which is paid by one parent (or in some situations by both parents or by other people) for the benefit of the child or children;
- property division upon separation, including assets and liabilities; and
- spousal support ("alimony"), which is paid by one spouse (married or common-law) to the other;
-divorce.

Sometimes, the local Children's Aid Society (CAS) can become involved in your child(ren)'s and family's life.

This can happen for various reasons, and can be in Court or not, including voluntary service agreements (VSAs).

As the CAS has powers that can literally decimate families, working quickly is frequently paramount to obtaining the best possible outcome.

While the Court process usually takes a long time, some matters can't be delayed. If the situation warrants it, these can sometimes be obtained within as little as a few days or even less.

Restraining Order:
If you have reason to fear for your or your child(ren)'s safety (usually but not exclusively at the hands of your ex-partner), a restraining order can be made to protect you or your child(ren).

Urgent Motion:
These requests are only available in very limited situations including an imminent abduction of a child, medical issues of a child, and dire financial situations.
