Juffs service was excellent, from estimate through to completion of the job. A thorough inspection was done to get an accurate quote, including climbing into my attic. Workers we're prompt, polite, quiet and wasted no time. Although there was a major downpour before the job was completed, no leaks occurred, as the roof was left in a waterproof state. More...

We wanted to do the roof once and not deal with it again. That meant looking for high quality materials and someone who's going to put quality first. After looking at a number of contractors, we went with Juffs and we're glad we did. They were expensive, but are properly trained, able to fit our schedule and offer a warranty that doesn't lose value over time. The job was done efficiently and clean up was fantastic. The crew were friendly and easy to deal with. We also had some unusual aspects to the roof that they were able to deal with without trouble.Steve and his team did a great job just like they promised. I feel we made a good investment in a very important part of the house. We also took the opportunity to improve insulation and ventilation in the attic, so we look forward to a warmer winter under the new roof. Thanks Juffs! More...

From the start Shay was professional, knowledgeable and punctual. I had 4-5 other contractors give estimates (including high-rated Homestars ones), many didn't even climb up on the roof or meet me in person, just left a quote in the mailbox. They didn't even ask about the leaks in the winter or the significant attic mold. Shay spent almost 2 hours with me explaining what needed to be done, what I wanted and what was in the budget.

The price was comparable to some of the quotes I received, and it is not cheap but I wanted to go through the trouble of changing the roof only once and Shay presented a reliable company. I contacted them after a frustrating summer of 2012 meeting various contractors and they began work in December 2012 and worked in the cold weather to complete it before New Years. The 3 most impressive things were:
1. Shay and his dealing with clients.
2. Juff's ability to co-ordinate such a big job and complete it within 2 weeks (removing old insulation and spraying new insulation, changing the plywood on the entire roof, eaves troughs, new siding, skylight, roofing and ensuring the ventilation in adequate, shutters).
3. The limited disruption to our daily life and the neighbours. We noticed the upper floor was warmer and the drafts were virtually gone as the work was nearing completion and the house looked much better, too. Also, last winter had a lot of heavy, wet snow, I know the old roof wouldn't have survived so I appreciate the work they did in December, it was well worth the money.Juff's actually provided extra materials and work, more than in the contract, as the job was nearing completion to have everything match and make the house look better.Overall, I am very pleased with the work that Juff's did, and they exceeded my expectations, provided reliable service and I have confidence my roof will last for years without any issue. The mold, insulation and roofing that was my main concern and everything was completed, beyond expectations.

We had our roof completely redone by Juff's last year. We were extremely impressed before, during and after the work was done. Steve, who quoted on the job, was the only sales rep who actually climbed into our attic to check on insulation and ventilation, etc., beforehand. Shane, who was the foreman on the job, kept the mess to a minimum and made sure everyone was working a full steam to get the job done on time. After the work was completed Steve came back several times to make sure everything was done correctly. When we found the new attic ventilation was a bit too noisy in our bedroom Steve replaced the vent with a silent model at no extra charge. We recommend Juff's to anybody having work done on their roof. No hesitations. You will sleep well at night--figuratively and literally. More...

We would like to thank Juff's for fixing our roof and providing a total integrated solution. Though our old roof was only 9 years old, due to poor ventilation, the entire roof needed to be replaced. We had many quotes from various contractors and though Juff's was certainly not the cheapest, we chose Juff's because:
1) Steve spent time to explain our problem and was the only one who eased our concerns and answered all our questions to our satisfaction.
2) We were willing to invest in the additional work if it meant it would solve our roof problems.
3) Provided an integrated solution which included fixing the ventilation (the source of the problem), replacing the plywood, shingles, sealed the areas of air leakage and topped up the insulation.
4) Provided a comprehensive warranty which was also backed by the manufacturer.
In addition to this, Juff's crew was always courteous and took time to explain their progress on the roof. The distributor had sent the wrong vent which caused about a week delay however Juff's came to install the ventilation as soon as it arrived. We are very happy with the job and we would not hesitate to refer Juff's in the future.

I had interviewed 4 companies with regards to replacing my 22 years old roof. Each company tried to compete on price, except Juffs. Shay explained what was wrong with our roof, and how the other companies were selling me a short term solution that was destined for repairs with 8-12 years. With his expertise, he was able to explain what was needed in order to have a roof that would last 25+ years and still look great. He was also able to work with my budget and still find a way to make it work. The second great part was the crew that showed up. Led by an expert foreman, he had an apprentice up on the roof as well as a gofer below that took care of regular tasks. The only problem was that the crew was in such a hurry to leave that they left roof waste on my property and the neighbours. It was a shame, as that is the only thing that kept this from being a 10/10. More...

There were some communication problems about when work was to be done and timely response to my phone calls. Without a doubt, my dealings with Juffs Roofing was the best experience that I have ever had with a contractor working on my house. In particular, Shane was exceptional. From star to finish, everyone at Juffs was knowledgeable, professional and courteous. Juffs told me what they were going to do, they did what they said they would do, and they did it when they said they would do it. Last winter, I had major problems with ice dams and leaks. I selected Juffs for their insulation and roofing expertise. The 60 some odd pot lights on the second floor of my house were causing havoc in the attic. The pot lights were already IC rated, so Shane and his crew meticulously added vapour barriers and spot foamed each potlight before doing the blown insulation. The also did all the insulation work from the roof and did not have to step foot inside my house. As a result of the improved insulation, I was able to set the thermostat 3 degrees lower that what was required last winter. In addition, it was very noticeable that all the rooms on the second floor of the house were at a consistent temperature, even the room that is above the garage. Shane, Steve and Bob also recommended that I spray foam insulate the flat portion of the roof in the front of my house and it worked like a charm. Due to previous renovations, my roof has sloped portions, flat portions and mansard portions. Do to the odd shapes, Steve suggested that the crew partition the attic into 3, such that each area had its own intake and exhaust. While Juffs was doing the work during the summer, when I was on the roof, I noticed that the heat was just pouring out of the exhaust vents. It was a good indication that the attic was very ventilated at that point. Now, at the tail end of this winter, I notice that I am one of the few people who still has a blanket of snow on the roof. Again, an indication that my attic is well insulated and well ventilated. Shane and his crew also did a great job on the roof itself. As mentioned, my roof is quite complex, it is not exactly small and despite the wet wet weather last spring, Juffs was able to complete the roof in just over a week. Each night, they ensured that the unfinished roof was watertight and not a drop came into the house during the rainstorms that we experienced in the spring. Since Juffs finished the work, I have had not any issues whatsoever with water leaks. During the whole process, the crew constantly invited me to join them up on the roof to observe and to inform me of what they were doing. It was a tremendous learning experience for me. I am also very impressed with after work follow up. Any questions that I have are answered by Steve within an hour or two. Well done! More...

After my first meeting with Neil, I knew this was going to be the right choice of roofer. He did a thorough inspection of my existing roof including a visit to the attic. When he returned with the quote, he spent nearly 2 hours with me going through what was needed. The most important feature was my lack of ventilation, which other roofers were going to address by installing more box vents. My house has no soffits, so there is inadequate fresh air entering the attic space. Neil pointed out that most shingle manufacturers won't honor their full warranty unless the roof is properly ventilated. No other roofer mentioned this to me.
I was told to expect work to start in three weeks. Four days later I received a call asking if they could start the following Monday! Shane and his crew showed up as arranged, dodged some tricky weather and did an amazing job. They spent a little extra time and materials to install the edge venting system so it's invisible from street level, at NO extra cost to me!
In all honesty, with the guarantee I now have, which is transferable if I sell the house, my house value has increased. It's like getting a free roof.
Thanks guys.

We had received 4 quotes for our roofing job and although Juffs was not the cheapest it was close to 2 others so we knew they were quoting accurately for what they were proposing. What I found most impressive about this company was that they were true to their word. If they said they were going to show up at a certain time...they did. If they were going to be late...they called to let me know. I have dealt with so many service people that show up 3o mins late and don't apologize. My time is worth something too! I found the company ran like a well oiled machine. Every step of the process was handled professionally.
Met with Steve to go over all the details of the quote. My husband and I are no experts when it comes to roofing but Steve was able to explain in laymans terms exactly what the job required. We had some options as to whether or not we wanted to go with a more expensive alternative but there was no pressure to do so . Bob, Shane and the rest of the 6 man crew arrived on time, worked diligently for 2 1/2 days and cleaned up very well. The job looks great and I feel secure with our decision to hire this company. We sought several quotes for the job and then learned about side and peak venting from a neighbour. I called an architect I knew and asked for his advice on the materials and this, new to me, venting. It turns out it is the better choice, and while it cost more we decided to go all the way and do the job right and get the 50 year protection. We did not want to do the roof again.
We thought we can do the cheaper way for 1/2 the price, and then have to do it again in 10 or 15 years or we could do it right and never worry. We then went back to the other firms and one knew nothing about this form of venting and the other came back with a similar quote, but did not sound as confident about the work (we were not sure how often they had done it). Juff's had done several and were very confident about the work, answered all the questions, passed all the architect test questions and did not give us any hassle about increasing the thickness of the plywood.
Shay was polite, responsive and gave us complete information. They even found a way to move up our start date and called us to let us know. They arrived on time and did the work. They even gave me a tour of the roof before they finished so I could see how it was done. The clean up was OK and the bin did not stay longer than necessary. Overall I would recommend them.

Skylights can be a very nice addition to any home. But when they leak they can become your worst nightmare. Our house has several skylights. As a result of a defunct DIY roof repair about 5 years ago our skylight problem had worsened. The time had come to take action so I started to research roofing contractors. Having used Homestars.com for other services I went to them again for this project. We chose Juffs Roofing based on the number of positive reviews from other satisfied customers.
The job started out as a replacement of 4 skylights, and removal of another. We anticipated there would be some additional costs due to water damage from the leaking skylights. This job evolved into a larger scale renovation project. This was NOT because they were trying to up sell us – rather it was their attention to detail and commitment to completing the job as if it were their own home. The Juffs crew showed us the extent of the damage and thoroughly explained our options. Trust me: these guys know their stuff. A wealth of knowledge combined with many years of experience. Everyone we spoke with during the job was very professional, compassionate, courteous, and pleasant to deal with.
After living though the uncertainty and headaches every time it rained we now have peace of mind. A very special thanks to Steve, Bob, Phil, Shane, and the rest of the crew. I will happily recommend anyone I know to your company for their roof repair needs.

The house is a 90-year old semi and I had waited too long to get the roof replaced. It had several layers of old shingles and was leaking in two places (at least two places I knew about. ) I called Juffs and their rep, Shay, made an appointment very quickly. He went on the roof and took several photos to show me the damage and what was required. He explained the process in detail, showed an extensive portfolio of comparable jobs, and the detailed contract that Juffs uses. He provided various shingle samples, explained what products would be used and all the steps involved. As we were getting into mid-Fall, there were some reasonable delays in the start date given how roofers requires the cooperation of the weather but Susan in the office was great about updates on the start date.
Getting this new roof was an extensive job which took 4.5 days. Half the house has a flat roof which was more difficult to repair, new attic vents were installed, all the old wet insulation was removed and new insulation blown in, and new eaves installed. Once the work started, Chris and his crew of four guys were all very professional and helpful in all ways, answered all my questions and kept everything cleaned up each day. Since the job ran into Thanksgiving weekend and the guys had to return on the following Tuesday, they arranged to have the dumpster which was parked in the driveway, removed for the weekend and returned after the holiday. Our most recent experience goes like this: We had noticed some ice build-up at the side of our House last Winter, so I decided to give Steve a call to see what he thought might be the problem. While there, I also asked him to look at the many icicles and build-up we had at the back. The House interior was in great condition, so it was not a time I wanted to face having insulation work done - however no choice. Steve assured me Juffs would do their best to not do any damage to our interior. I was amazed at how fast they were able to complete all of the work. The thing that probably impressed me the most was the level of customer service they provided. When working with a contractor it is so important to have good communication and Juffs roofing exceeded my expectations. Thanks again to the entire team. It truly was a pleasure doing business with you. More...

Shay, prepared our estimate and walked us through all the requirements.
My wife enjoyed all our dealings with Susan in the office.
When my wife needed confirmation and reassurance that we needed to replace all the sheathing Bob came to show her the rotted wood and took the time to explain why.
I was delighted with the company foreman, Bob and the crew foremen Shane and Chris.
The crews were extremely impressive and respectful. At the end of the each day the work site was clean. The Juff's team also worked to determine and solve the venting issues we had.
I would strongly recommend Juff's for your roofing needs.Sandi & Robert [last name removed-- Ed]in Armour.

I am extremely impressed by the professionalism demonstrated by all individuals involved in my reroofing job. They were consistently friendly, sincere, courteous, and clearly extraordinary proud and dedicated to their task. I learned a great deal about roofing mechanics prior to the job and was even brought in to my attic to review past deficiencies that were appropriately corrected. The workers worked diligently and cleaned up very well afterward. I strongly recommend Juff's roofing without any reservation whatsoever. More...

After talking to several roofing firms I chose Juffs based in part on the recommendation of a friend. In addition to re-shingling I needed extensive roof deck repairs and attic ventilation improvements, so I wanted a top notch job and Juffs certainly delivered. Their crew is friendly, professional, highly experienced and well trained on the products they are installing. Most of the crew had worked for this company for ten years or more - highly unusual in this industry. They are also left the site cleaner than when they arrived. If you are looking for a top quality job where no shortcuts are taken then I highly recommend them. More...

The work was handled cleanly, professionally and with pride. Some problems were revealed when the roof was removed. The chimney fell over LOL! I had to go over budget to fix it, but everything was handled very well so I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Juff's for any roofing project. More...

EXCELLENT SERVICE!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!! I've been planning on redoing my roof for a couple years and was frustrated by the huge range of pricing (from under 3k to almost 10k). After looking at the home stars review and having budget this year I decided to give Juff's a chance.I got 3 estimates .... Juff's was in the middle. But the customer experience was always above par. - quick response for the estimate
- thorough and professional site visit and estimate
- great preparation prior to starting work
- excellent execution, clean up and customer service follow upThey weren't the cheapest because the included everything that others didn't (everyone else was going to reuse flashing and vents), they knew what I needed for a whole roof solution (more vents alone wouldn't solve my issues ... had to improve circulation), they had the products needed (to improve circulation and improve the roofing solution) without major renovations or altering the aesthetics of my home. They weren't the cheapest in the short term ... but I believe they were in the long term because they did it right. Very professional crew and team.I was away on a conference while the work was done and had I not noticed the new roof I would have never known they were there. Well except for one minor thing ... when they cleaned up my deck in the back yard they left it cleaner than they found it ...So go ahead and shop around if you must ... I'm sure you'll make the same decision I made ... and be just as happy Juff's is the best. Thank you!

We called Juffs after getting 3 other quotes. The Juffs quote was a little above the average, but Shay took the time to explain everything and answer any questions we had. They replaced the roof, and flashing, added new attic venting, and properly vented the bathroom.Chris and the Juffs crew took the time to protect my garden before starting any work, and cleaned up the entire property before they left. The crew worked hard, and were polite, friendly, and professional. I am very happy with the finished roof, and would not hesitate to recommend them. More...

When I discovered, much to my horror, that the flat-roof bathroom addition in the house I'd bought just months earlier had been leaking where the flat roof met the peaked roof to the point where the pink fiberglass batting was soaked to a vomit-coloured, mouldy-smelling mess and soaked through the drywall ceiling, it became clear that I needed two new roofs--pronto. After having 4 companies come in to provide quotes--including Avenue Road Roofing, who estimated a full 105% more on the flat roof than any of the other 3 companies!--I decided to hire Juffs Roofing after listening to their thoughtful evaluation of what was wrong with my roofs, and hearing their smart suggestions of the various options to fix it. They suggested ventilating the attic with a ridge vent system and suggested different insulating options, including soya-based spray-in foam, which is much more effective at air sealing than batt-type or blow-in insulation (they subcontracted a company to spray-in the foam, and I was quite pleased with that company, their product and their service.) Juffs was so busy with previously booked contracts, and because the colder winter temperatures weren't conducive to installing the spray-foam insulation (which needs to be installed at 8 degrees or higher to maintain its efficacy), so the company could only work on my roof in the spring; accordingly, before winter hit, they sent a couple of workers to install temporary fibreglass insulation with a vapour barrier into my then-open bathroom ceiling to keep me warm over the winter. The two crews--that's right, they sent two crews, of 9 men--started early in the morning, worked very hard and finished the job of removing and replacing both a shingled roof and a flat roof in less than 3 days. Bob, the chief foreman, has been on the job for over 30 years, and accordingly has much experience about different types of roofs and what needed to be done in the case of mine. A salt-of-the-earth, no-bs kinda guy, Bob was able to explain all of my many tedious questions so that I would understand the rationale behind every stage of the process and all the materials they used...then when my mom swung by to blatantly investigate their progress, Bob and his son Shane--who has also been on the job for 15+-some-odd years!--had the patience to explain it all over again to her. My 86-year-old next-door neighbour, who sat outside in his garden every day to watch the proceedings, was impressed that the young men worked hard, seemed to know what they were doing, and didn't swear. They even watered some of the plants in my garden for me! (Thanks, guys. You should see how well everything's growing.)Both Shane and Bob invited me onto the roof to examine the work at any stage of the roofing process, which I took them up on a couple of times as I stayed home each day to let them in for an alternate power source (which they never ended up needing). They reinforced some wood where necessary without being asked (and again, without charging extra) and made sure the exhaust vent they installed as part of my now-updated bathroom was exactly where I wanted it before putting it in place. They also chose a lovely one-piece unit that complemented the look of the flat roof. From start to finish, everyone I spoke with over the phone or in person was professional. Susan in the office was my ally in getting in touch with Steve, the company president, when I had an important question to ask him, and she indulged me in a last-minute change to my shingle colour that I was really appreciative of. Steve in turn extended his personal guarantee that if anything was ever wrong with the roof, they'd be there stat to fix it, as their motto is "Do it once, do it right!"Shay, the salesman, was able to answer all my questions about various options and supplied an accurate all-inclusive quote, which he stuck to, so there were no extra surprises when it came time to pay the bill. He even paid for the addition of an eavestrough out of his own pocket (I know they're not that expensive, but the roofers felt it was important to add one, and since Shay had not accounted for that in the original quote, he covered it free of charge). If you do your research, you'll find that Juffs is one of few Toronto-area companies to sell only top-quality shingle, insulation and venting products, so whatever you choose to go with, you're guaranteed to be adding value to your home while making sure there's literally a great roof over your head. There's even a long warranty on the product and the labour, which can be transferred once to the next owner of the house. When the job was over, all the areas were in good order, except my mother noticed that a tiny out-of-the-way laneway had somehow accidentally been missed in the cleaning process. When I called Bob to mention this, he sent one of his employees, Justin, back within hours, where the poor guy spent over an hour hunched over in a tiny, hard-to-get-at cramped space meticulously filling two giant garbage bags full of roofing debris, which he quietly carted away with him since the bin had already been removed. He cleaned up the alley so nicely that my other neighbour, who is a maid herself and takes great pride in things being in tip-top order, exclaimed that she hadn't seen it so clean in 14 years! Obviously, the proof will be in the pudding after the respective roofs have sustained a winter's weight of snowfall and a heavy fall rainfall's worth of precipitation, so I'll check back later and update this post to keep you in the loop! Well worth the expense--and yes, it was pricey, but definitely worth it--for a professional job being done once and correctly by a company who's been in business for a great number of years. All in all, I am a happy customer who would without a doubt recommend choosing Juffs Roofing for anyone concerned about sleeping under a sound roof at night. Hire them before they book up! More...

We obtained 4 estimates for redoing the roof on our semi-detached (shared job with neighbour) and Juff's was in the middle. Juff's stood out because they (Shay) took the time to explain all of the details of the products and methods they use and why they are using them (with pictures and samples). They were also the only company that went through the yard cleanup logistics with me: where to place the bin, protecting our garden, etc. So that's why we went with them.As for the job itself, it went really smoothly. They delivered a flyer a couple days before the job which outlined how to prepare for it. They protected the areas they said they would and even took the time to move some of the things I had forgotten out of the way (BBQ, planters, etc). The job took 2 days, and when they left, you could barely tell they were here (aside from the much nicer looking roof).Only one small thing: when they were removing the old shingles on the extension/mudroom, a piece of the glass cover for the light on the ceiling inside shook loose and fell down (causing it to break). However, there were 4 or 5 layers of old shingles on that roof which they had to remove, so it's understandable how that could have happened. The damage was pretty minor: I was able to glue it together and put it back in place. Not a big deal.Anyways, I went up on the main roof to have a look (both before and after) and the new roof vents look to be much better quality. The new shingles look good and the flashing around the chimney also looks a lot better. I'm looking forward to not having anymore leaks in that area (so far so good).Overall, I'm very satisfied with the job and would recommend Juff's to others. More...
