Q&As

A great website comes down to the end goal of the client. There are a few staples however that apply across any website. The first is work samples, whether you're selling products and services online or starting a blog the client always wants to know what they're buying. Having high-quality examples of your works makes potential clients more likely to choose you over a competitor. The second piece is usability, if your website is difficult to navigate or filled with pages, chances are no one is getting past the first page. Simplicity can truly go a long way. The final and most crucial piece is hiring a skilled designer to support your goals and create an overall feel. We all love stunning websites but often get a little heavy-handed when left to our own demise. Hiring a professional can support you in streamlining your ideas for an end result that leaves you thrilled.

Each project has its own set of needs. When I start with any new project I really love to understand the expectations around the project. What is the urgency? Have they had pieces created in that past? Are they looking to start fresh or add to an existing style? Some of my clients come in ideas ready and others are simply looking for feedback and guidance.

I'm always mixing up my creative process, while I always keep my communication style the same the way I get into my creative mindset can differ from day to day. I've had times when I jump right into the project with creativity flowing through my fingertips, catching all and seeing what shakes out. Other times I've created a strategy and worked my way backwards so the design will meet goals on a different level.

Before any work can be started I need all details around the project. If we are creating a project with size restraints I will require those dimensions. Any logos, images or content that the client already has must be ready before the work schedule can be finalized. To get all my projects organized and on time I ask my clients to come prepared with their questions and project assets.

The variety, nothing makes me happier in this world than mixing it up! I'm grateful for the opportunity to support people all across Canada and now internationally with their business and project needs. The variety of these projects keeps me on my toes, helping me learn and grow as a designer.

Having worked in-house for several businesses the leap to starting my own business was certainly an interesting one. The biggest reason for this change was variety, while I've appreciated working for brands and creating designs for them I truly missed meeting with clients, hearing their stories and helping them with new and evolving projects.
