Q&As

My work allows seniors and other with mobility and accessibility issues to stay in their home longer and to enjoy life more! Simple changes and fixes make all the difference in someone's comfort and happiness. It's a great job!

I had to help my own mother and some of my elderly neighbours, and I realized that there very few people who understood the changes that could be made and were available to help seniors and their caregivers make those changes.

I'm not only a good handyman, I have specialized in serving seniors and have studied the field, obtaining my Certified Aging In Place specialization. This allows me to work with other health professionals to make the home safe, accessible and secure.

Services

Any home should be comfortable, easy to move around in, well maintained and above all – safe! Our audits focus on all these and many other areas of the home. Finally, we provide a comprehensive report of items which you might consider to ensure safe and comfortable surroundings.

Sometimes you just need one thing or, a bunch of things, fixed or installed. This can range from putting a new bulb in a hard to reach place or putting down that new floor you really like. We understand this and we offer a complete handyman service that is affordable and thorough.

There are many ways to make a home safer and more accessible from the simple such as tacking down carpets, to the more complex such as installing a chair lift or elevator. In between there are hundreds of useful changes that can be made that cost very little but make a big difference.

Slips and falls are the most common and most dangerous of all accidents that face seniors (and others) on a daily basis. One simple slip can results in years of other health and mobility issues and the sad thing is that they can often be easily avoided!

Handrails at different parts of the house (e.g. stairs, outside porch, hallways) or grab bars in wet or slippery areas like the bathroom or even kitchen area, can help people avoid that initial slip or fall. Not expensive to install and can result in years of additional mobility and accessibility around the house.

Homes need regular maintenance and ignoring small repairs tends to result in larger repairs later on. Many of these smaller, inside repair jobs (e.g. fixing drywall damage and doing a quick paint touch up) result in a more comfortable place to live. Outside maintenance like clearing downspouts in the fall ensures that water moves and stays away. All are useful and not so easy to do for many seniors. We offer various packages that save time and money!
