The place is very retro feel, you order your burgers when you enter off printed label menus behind the cash. The prices are fairly inflated but the size of your food is also very hefty too. If you are hungry, the poutine and burger combo with drink can run you for 19 dollars. I had the regular hamburger, they mentioned it'll be kiddy sized but I felt like it was a good amount. Mostly just a snack for 7 dollars. The toppings are fresh, pickles have nice crunch and the burger is very nicely broiled. You can definately taste the char. If you love burgers then you gotta try golden star. Its family run and service is great. I would recommend the home made burger with fries and onion rings. They have various sauces you can try. Â The only topping I would push for is caramelized onions. But it's a great local place and not the typical chain burgers. More...

I have been going to the Golden Star since I was in high school. Â I am now in my 70's. Â My children grew up on these burgers as well as we lived in the area. Â Now I travel a distance to get my delicious home burger with cheese and bacon. Â On Sunday night May 16th, I went and one of the gentleman owners wasn't there. Â The place was miserable, making mistakes, and forgetting things in the order. Â The worst part was the woman at the cash who was obviously someone's wife. Â She was nasty, mean and not hospitable. Â I'm not used to going there when the staff doesn't care and the woman was rushing even though you could only have 5 people in at one time. Â Her demeanour was definitely not up to Golden Star standards. Â I will think twice now about making the trip up north for my burgers.
