I learnt from Warren Buffett that diversifying he says"diversified funds or balance funds are bad investments because as one fund goes up, another is going down diminishes any growth you would have had by only investing in the funds creating wealth. We have therefore stayed away from these types of funds and allowed our research to be in the suitable funds at the right time. Just eliminating the negative effect of balanced and diversified funds will increase your returns that includes their newly named balanced portfolios that banks push that have up to 35 funds inside them (Warren says again that is over-diversifying)

But as previously stated, inflation and taxes erode the purchasing value of your dollar if left unchecked. Most advisors never address this critical issue.
