The contractor and designer of my pool misinterpreted the building code for security/safety for access to the pool, in particular the security requirement from the back house entrance to the pool area. As a result, my pool failed inspection. Not only was the wood railing not high enough for code but the pickets were too far apart. The idea that the contractor came up with was to rebuild with a taller wood railing and gate and decrease the width between the pickets. This would have greatly obstructed the view from the back of the house and since the back deck area is small (it's really just a landing area from the house), it would have looked like a small jail cell! Their other alternative was to build another fence across the entire width of the backyard terrace...this would have destroyed the entire design...terrible idea! Luckily Dream Ironwork had designed and built the wrought iron fencing around the exterior of the property enclosing the pool. After hearing of my dilemma, Mark O. investigated the building code and came up with a unique and beautiful idea. The wood railing and gate that my contractor built was removed and replaced with a railing consisting of wrought iron and glass. It not only looks incredible, it provides a clear site line from inside the house to the pool, terrace and surrounding gardens. What do you love most about your job?
We love creating something different everyday it makes you enjoy your job. We specially love to see the looks on our customer faces when we install our work.
I see my customers on the street all the time and they always come up to me with smiles and a friendly conversation. My wife laughs and say " I could of swore you knew that man or woman for years the way they greeted you". I think I love that the most.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I've always taken machine shop as a young man in school and enjoyed it so much. I've worked with all different types of metal all my life, brass, copper, stainless steel, aluminum , cast iron, and mild steel and there's a few I'm sure I missed.
Why should our clients choose you?
My employee and I all have attention for details, that final touch either in design or or in the detailed finishing, we take the time to do it right. We all think what would I do if that was going in my house.
I took on a partner in this business when I first started out been self employed. A few months into our partnership I kept hearing him say "that's good enough" and "they'll never see it" Well needless to say, we didn't last long together! I know my customers work hard to have these luxuries we supply, and that type of attitude I don't need or want in my company.
