Our experience was terrible. Olive was a decent trainer (I think?) but extraordinarily unprofessional. We used her services for our puppy, who is now full grown, and Olive had to miss several classes due to various reasons - which I totally understood. Then, when I had to postpone a class she charged me full price ($250 a class!!!!) One class she yelled at us for not completing a certain routine. We tried to end the sessions, halfway through because it was clearly not working out and she flat out refused to refund us for half of the sessions. So she misses classes You can’t miss a class There is no refund policy And frankly, her people skills are why she’s in the dog business. More...

Having moved a 10 year old mixed breed and 4 year old Pitt Bull from S.A. to Vancouver has been a challenge in many ways. Olive has helped us in ways we never thought were possible . In just 4 weeks the dogs have adjusted and settled and are living a much happier life, all thanks to Olive. I cannot wait to start our next 4 weeks. More...

We adopted a 1 year old rescue, Bruno, this summer. He's our 5th rescue dog. Despite all our experiences with dogs, we didn't feel we have the skills or the tools to train and manage Bruno. We needed to get Bruno adjusted and under control quickly as we have an 11 year old dog and 3 young children, the youngest was just over a year old. Bruno was acting like a wild beast and had been displaying lots of dominance behaviors both towards our dog and our children. After comparing between a few trainers we decided to approach Olive. Bruno, like most dogs, is very smart and has no problem learning commands. It's his behavior we needed to address. With Olive's step by step instructions, we were able to have Bruno integrated into our family nicely, by learning the appropriate behaviors and boundaries. Nowadays, our kids can play with him, our 1.5 year old daughter would climb all over him and would often torment him by walking around the house while waving food in front of his face. We are continuing to work with Bruno on his behavior outside and towards other dogs. Olive has designed some exercises for us to strengthen our bond with Bruno and to work around distractions. Bruno continues to make progress, despite a few setbacks along the way. Whenever there is a setback, we would seek Olive's advice. She is always supportive and helpful in identifying where the problem is and what adjustments to make. It is amazing to see how Olive can gain Bruno's trust and have him under control within the first few minutes of meeting him, especially since he tends to be skiddish at timesbut likely due to lack of socialization. It really gives us an idea of what is achievable. Olive tailors her programs to suit the individual family, because no 2 dogs and their families are the same. More...

We met Olive as a last ditch effort to keep our dog as he became unmanageable, and she turned our precious boy into the most loving, affectionate, trustworthy, gentle Golden Shepherd! Well actually, she taught us how to be good pet-parents and help Jono thrive and give him the home and structure he craved. Olive, thank you for keeping our little family intact, we simply can't imagine life without our Jonathan!! We highly recommend your dog-whispering talents! More...

We started working with Olive when Benny was a puppy. We realized we needed the training just as much as Benny did. Benny was very challenging and stubborn and we had to learn how to be the pack leaders. Otherwise, our cute little Aussie Labradoodle was going to take over the house - and our lives. What a difference it made. Not only did Olive help us develop Benny into an amazing, smart, gentle and lovable part of our family, but we also found a wonderful environment for Benny to go to once a week. Benny is almost 3 now and still loves his time with Olive and his fur friend, Ted! As an added bonus, because Benny turned out to be such a smart and gentle dog, he recently successfully passed his test to be a volunteer Therapy Dog through St John Ambulance. Something I don't think he would have achieved if we had not found Olive originally and followed through with the constant reinforcement needed. Thank you, Olive! More...

Olive provides a wonderful boarding service, she is loving and caring and very knowledgable regarding dogs. This is not a kennel environment as there is usually 1 -2 dogs at a time and she matches their temperament. There is a fully fenced yard to explore, and Johnny our greyhound is well cared for with lots of attention. Olive is very knowledgeable of greyhounds needs, and raw food diets and we are very comfortable leaving him in her care and Johnny is happy to be there. More...

My puppy, Oskar, was a complete and utter handful of trouble until Olive took us both under her wing and transformed Oskar into the sweet, obedient dog he always wanted to be, and me into the better dog owner I needed to be. I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone with an unruly dog, or even for seasoned owners to learn new tricks. Thank you, Olive! More...

Q&As

I love what I do!!!! I get great pleasure seeing the changes dog owners experience when their dogs typically don’t listen, and now suddenly, they do! When they feel so much more confident taking their dog out in public, and their dogs enjoy it so much more now too. It’s a wonderful feeling to take a family from, chaos breaking-out every time the doorbell rings, to having a calm, quiet dog that listens well, and visitors complement you about their good behavior.

The family is so much happier because there is more peace in the house. They can take down the gates, Grandparents aren’t afraid they’ll get jumped on, toddlers aren’t being knocked over crying, – so everybody can be together more often.

It’s a privilege, being able to come into a client’s home and effect changes in their dogs’ behaviour they didn’t think was possible. It changes people’s lives, and it brings me so much joy to see this happen!

From the very first visit, I’m able to really help my clients, it’s so rewarding for everybody. Everyone benefits – the dog, the family, the whole Pack!

I don’t remember a time in my life when I wasn’t around or involved with dogs in some form or another. Some of my earliest childhood memories revolve around my father’s dogs and kennels. I learned from early childhood about: the importance of pack leadership; pack dynamics; and developing the bond of trust and respect with dogs.

After spending my first 25 years working in the business world, I was determined the next 25+ would be spent doing what I loved. So, in 1996 I moved to Ireland and began working in a small established Greyhound Kennel.

Over the next 10+years, I studied and worked hands-on. I became responsible for handling the ‘problem’ dogs. Because of my experience, I could do temperament assessments and design programs to work effectively with the shy, fearful, and traumatized dogs that build trust and confidence – making their lives easier, less stressful, and more relaxed. More successful for all concerned!

As my reputation grew, I received more and more requests to expand my work to include ‘the family pet’ and all breeds of dogs. This was the direction my work developed… and I knew I’d found my calling!

By 2008, I had returned to Canada, become a Certified Master Trainer, and opened DOGGY DO’S & DON’TS … to provide customized training for my clients.
I am now please to add exclusive, Anxiety Treatments and Health & Wellness Treatments to our services.

I’d love to help you too. This is what I do… yes, even for your dog!
