I love being able to help people be their best self. It is a privilege to sit with clients during challenging times, to hold space for all the feelings and to be let into spaces where most are not. I am humbled and grateful daily to do the work I do.

I wanted to live my life by design: working to create a significant amount of room for family, friends, community and myself. I am a believer of the slow movement and like to take space to marvel in ordinary moments of interaction and simply being instead of doing. Being in private practice allows me flexibility to show up not only for my clients, but also for myself, family and friends - thus letting me give clients my best self.

I am a believer that we all want to be our best selves and also that we are all in the same soup. We all have things that we are working on. By having a supportive team, we can resource ourselves to deal with our barriers and live the life we want. I am real, and tell it like it is, but will always give clients a soft place to land.

Sessions can be in person or online - whichever you are more comfortable with. Booking is all done by clients on my calendly page and can be changed if need be to accommodate.

I will always contact you if I have concerns about my health/wellness to move sessions online. The same is available to you - keep your session just move to virtual. In office I/we can mask/distance if you feel more comfortable. The office is regularly sanitized.

Trauma comes in many shapes and sizes. When most people think of trauma they might think of living in a war zone, but small traumas add up inside of us, shape our neural pathways and make it difficult for us to cope with stress on a day-to-day basis. When these little traumas pile up, we can find ourselves stuck in life and unable to reach our true potential.

Whether it’s through a mindfulness practice, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Hakomi, cognitive behavioural therapy or a combination, you’ll transform your understanding of yourself and work to become unstuck.

Deepika Mittra has been counselling since 2008. Her work stresses self care as an antidote to the pressures of modern life: when you look after yourself you can be your best self for everybody around you.

In addition to her private practice, Deepika Mittra applies her expertise around stress, self care and life balance to talks and workshops in professional settings. She has spoken or given workshops at TEDx Edmonton, the University of Alberta, the University of Calgary, and the Alberta College of Social Workers Conference. Deepika has appeared on the CBC, CityTV and CTV.
