We've been attending the puppy playtime sessions nearly every week since our now-5-month old puppy was just 8 weeks. These sessions have been AMAZING! Jasper is such a confident, well-rounded pup and I credit a lot of it to her time at Companion. She has learned how to play with puppies that are bigger than her, smaller than her, loud puppies, puppies that don't like to share, and puppies that are nervous and scared. She is so calm and gentle with the timid pups, and can hold her own with the ruff-and-tumble type. She is respectful to older dogs as a result too- when they tell her they aren't interested she respects their boundaries and backs off. I feel so much more confident in any number of situations because I know my dog has the foundational skills necessary to cope.

Not only has my puppy learned and enjoyed these one-hour weekly playtimes, but so have I- Nicole is amazing, always answering my questions & pointing me in the right direction, and Ive also developed friendships and a community to share information through the other pet owners who attend. I also truly appreciate the 3-5 hours of peace and quiet as my pup sleeps deeply after playtime! If you have a pup you should definitely sign up for these sessions- there is nothing else like it! Was searching for a new vet last year after our long time one retired. Have had incredible experiences with our fur babies here. Compassionate and accommodating. The care and advice received is always in the animals best interest and not solely to make money.
Yes they have business hours (which I find actually very accommodating and reasonable in suiting our needs) and if outside of those hours you may need to visit one of the emergency clinics, however that isn’t different than our own human medical care needs generally.

I can’t say enough praise for this clinic and their staff, especially Dr Benoit. Today my dog unfortunately needed emergency surgery today and Dr Benoit and his staff made everything very straightforward and easy. Taking him and fitting him into their day so that he wouldn’t have to be in pain. I have full trust and faith in their care team and I won’t be taking my boys anywhere else! More...

I can’t say enough great things about Dr. Benoit and his staff at Companion Veterinary! I have been bringing my fur babies in for almost 5 years and I never feel rushed, my questions are answered and my pet’s care is the most important thing. I have ALWAYS felt that treatments are suggested based on the animals care and not money. I always leave feeling happy and confident that my pets have received the very best care. As first time pet owners, choosing a Vet for our puppy Finnegan was a difficult decision. We wanted to make sure we found a place that made our puppy feel secure and happy to visit, while we could feel secure and trusting of the Doctor and staff. Companion Veterinary Clinic in Edmonton exceeded our expectations. Dr. Benoit and his staff are very gentle and pleasant. They were patient with my questions and offered me great tips to get through our puppy stages. The clinic is welcoming and clean. We love that this clinic offers training and puppy playtime. It's more then a vet clinic, it is a complete pet community and we're so lucky we chose it!

We started taking our pets to Companion when we adopted them because it was the nearest clinic to our home, but now we honestly wouldn't go anywhere else! The quality of care and genuine affection that our pets have recieved there is simply incomparable. Our little senior dog has had two major health scares this year, so we've spent a fair bit of time at the clinic, and have been nothing but utterly impressed by their services. Dr. Benoit is always compassionate, incredibly thorough, answering any questions we might have and making sure we understand what problems there are or what our pets need. The vet techs are absolutely amazing with even our cantankerous little dog, and the front staff are so incredibly welcoming. I've never had the pleasure of meeting a more lovely group of individuals. Lastly, but not unimportantly (especially in the current economic climate), financially speaking their services are incredibly reasonable- for standard preventative care and emergency situations alike. There's nowhere else we'd rather spend our money, or entrust the well-being of our furry family members to. More...

My cats have no problem visiting the vet. The staff are so friendly and caring. They take their time assessing my kitties so that they don’t feel stressed. They’re also so sneaky about injections that I don’t think my cats ever noticed they’d been poked! Companion Vet changed my faith in vet clinics, thanks to Dr. Benoit and his wonderful staff!A little back story:  After multiple terrible experiences, my Boxer/Coonhound (clownhound) Brutus, had severe anxiety and became terrified of the vet. It got to the point where his fear was turning into aggression and the vet he was going to was scared to get near him. The thing is, Brutus is not aggressive. He's never bit anyone in his life, so I decided it was time to find a new vet. I did some research and was referred to Companion Vet by several people, and just in time! Brutus had broken his nail lengthwise and it was starting to get infected. We wanted to work on muzzle training him before we had to go to the vet again, just so we could have better control over him if it came down to it. He's always been sensitive about his paws being touched, so I was a little worried that it was going to instantly become a bad experience for him again, but needless to say, he was injured and needed to see the doctor. As soon as we arrived, Brutus's energy was instantly better in comparison to his old vet, where by the time we arrived at the door he would be shaking and terrified. The wonderful girls at the front desk instantly made us feel at home and they came out from behind the counter to pet Brutus and give him some delicious hypo-allergenic treats. Dr.Benoit brought us in right away and Brutus loved him. I told him that Brutus's favorite treat was cheese, and coincidentally they had frozen cheese popsicles in the back for him which kept him happily distracted as the doctor looked at his foot. It turned out that Brutus had to be put under anesthesia so that Dr.Benoit could trim his broken nail. We got to stay in the room for the entire process which kept Brutus a lot more comfortable. After all was said and done, his nail was fixed, they trimmed all of his nails, cleaned his ears, and sent us home with antibiotics, painkillers, and a new allergy medication to try and Brutus wasn't traumatized, AND it didn't break the bank!I would highly recommend Companion Vet, especially to anyone who's dogs are terrified of the vet, or have dogs with aggression. The doctors at Companion Vet are the first Fear Free certified doctors in Alberta, and you wouldn't believe the difference that having a fear free doctor will make. More...
