The choices we made seemed exceptionally salty including the polenta and short ribs. Way too much salt on all of our choices which took away from some of the flavour.

Cleaver has now become one my favorite spots in the world. The great service and not to mention great food! My boyfriend and I tried to go next door and get some Mexican food but they told us their kitchen was closed and Cleaver was open until 11pm. We hopped right over and got some delicious happy hour. The food was the best part of this experience. The chicken sandwiches in happy hour was absolutely flavorful. Something in this sandwich was picked and it was absolutely delicious. The truffle fries in duck fat was holy smokes DELICOUS!!! You can taste the truffle so good. There was so much truffle. Idk if they used truffle oil and salt but omg I loved it so much. It was so perfect. The drinks were just as good as well. For happy hour it's only $8 for doubles. The bartender (I think her name is Alex) was so poised when bartending. She's so good at her job and all the drinks have all this extra ingredients. It's amazing how she remembers them all! Unfortunately for us, she doesn't over pour on the liquor. Lol! But that's great for the business owner that she does all the right measurements for the drinks. You won't lose any money from her working there. That's a good worker! Camilo was also a great server. The noise level was the spoiler for our party of six and the reason we would not recommend it for a friend. You label that noise level as "energetic" so you probably think it's an attraction to have to shout to be heard across the table by your fellow diner. We were having a lovely time... until the ringing started. A rather unwelcoming and unfriendly man, whom I assume is the floor manager, would repeatedly ring (loudly) a small bell at the bar. When I asked the server what the deal was with that bell, she responded grimly that it is to let staff know there is something to pick up. It's a small place. They all have an ear piece in. As usual Clever delivers on their food and drinks! But what made this visit exceptional was our server, Beth, she was wonderful! Great personality and very interactive! Definitely would recommend asking for her section if your ever stopping by as she adds to the wonderful experience! Ps. The food is a flavor explosion! If you like unusual flavors or just good quality you'll love this place.It is a little tight for quarters so if you think you'll get privacy think again but the ambiance is still good with a well thought out floor plan.

Service was prompt aside from the lengthy time it took to get the alcoholic drinks. Food is absolutely delicious, I loved the parsnips and best salad. Would definitely recommend to others to visit cleaver, they have a large enough menu to accomodate both the vegetarians and meat eaters at our table. The only downside is our server kept referring to our table as “ladies”. This made one of our guests extremely uncomfortable. Been here before and still loved it this time! The only thing was that my bread, especially the crust (I got the smashed avacado toast for brunch) was quite hard. Seating was tight as it was Sunday brunch and it was tricky to get in and out of our tables but we managed. Only other recommendation, for the tables at the back that have stools, maybe place some coat hooks on the wall behind the chairs. It is tricky to get in and out of the tables when it is busy and the tables are quite close together, it just leaves no room to place coats or anything!
