What do you love most about your job?
My name is Chris Petitclerc and I am a licensed insurance and investment advisor from Calgary Canada. As an independent broker, I can shop the financial market for mortgages insurance and investments. We are partners with about 100 financial firms across Canada.
I love helping families get better rates and are financially on track. When we see them getting a low rate at the banks, paying more for a mortgage or setting up their child's RESP or planning for their retirement, it is just so rewarding to know we are making a difference and giving back. We don't feel like were are selling anything. We are educating people on what is available for them in the Canadian market and then letting them decide what they want to do given our recommendations.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I have lived in Calgary for over 30 years, worked for the City of Calgary as a trainer, and website developer. Finance and Real Estate were always on my radar. I found the city I was just putting in the time, wasn’t very rewarding, and just wanted more out of life. I used to look at the old-timers that had been there 25-30 years and how bitter they were and knew I eventually would become bitter too if I stayed. I really wanted to be more impactful with my career and do more for people and still have the freedom to travel, set my own hours, and basically wanted to be financially independent.
I quit the city and started my own company Oakmont Investment and do RE in the USA, offer Airbnb property management in Calgary, and do renovations & Flipping. We partnered with Experior Financial a year ago and help families with mortgages, insurance, and investments.
I can now work from anywhere I have internet, I control my own hours and live and travel where I want to. I scuba dive in tropical places and travel to many different countries (15 in total to date). I also love what we do to help the masses get financially on track. It just never gets old hearing all the stories all our agents have doing what we love.
Why should our clients choose you?
As independent brokers, we can shop the Canadian market for mortgages, Insurance, and investments. We do not have our own products so we don't have to convince people that our products are the best. With so many companies out there and over 7000 funds in Canada it can be time consuming to shop around. Let is do that for you. We also get a better rate going in the back door as the client going in the front door because we bring the companies we are partnered with so much business. What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
Most meetings are over Zoom, however we have offices all across Canada in all larger cities and towns if a person wants to meet an office in person with a licensed advisor. If located in Calgary, Red Deer, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat or Edmonton and sometimes in BC, I can meet with a client in person from time to time. Most people like the convenience of meeting on the computer no-a-days.
