Update: Burnaby Blacktop responded to my concerns and resealed the driveway to my complete satisfaction.
Original Review: Small blacktop pathway job (8'x12').
Owner said that they have a minimum $1300 call-out fee but accepted $800 which was the same as two other quotes that I received. A tricky job that was handled well (I thought) - it required blending into an existing driveway and included working around a couple of utility covers. That job was done reasonably well. One of the workers convinced me to seal the driveway and new blacktop for a discounted price of $300. It was about $100 more than it would have cost me so I agreed. Unfortunately there were a couple of scabs that lifted off the next day and they had sealed the City water shut-off cap. I contacted the owner the next day and he said he would send somebody to fix it. I reminded him a week later and he said he would send somebody to fix it. That was more than two months ago and nobody has contacted me yet. I've since cleaned up the water shut-off cap so it can be removed and it looks like I'll need to fix the job myself. Poor work and poor follow-up.

To start, I would not hesitate to recommend these guys, because of the high quality of workmanship and professionalism I experienced in my dealings with their staff.
The quoted and final prices were the same, which a appreciated a lot. This job was not straightforward, and I liked that the crew presented and discussed various options to not just replace my old driveway, but to improve its looks and functionality, too. I ended up having a drain installed in front of the garage door, so now I don't get a large puddle there after a good rain.
I did experience a couple of minor annoyances. I requested that the crew not start until after 8am, as I have several family members that routinely sleep in during the summer (job was done at the end of June), and to keep some semblance of peace with the neighbours. However, the crew and equipment arrived on my street before 7am, so they could start as soon as the city noise bylaw allowed. Gripe #2: I had decorative concrete curbs installed a few days after the asphalt was laid. The crew was terrific and efficient, and the curbs look awesome. They did leave behind a fair amount of unsightly concrete stains in the fresh blacktop. Gripe #3: This is perhaps the one that bothered me most. A full two months after the job was completed, I was still getting calls from BB, requesting that I complete this Google review of the work they did for me. Well, be careful what you ask for is all I can say. I probably would have given a 5 star review had they not been so pesky.

The Burnaby Blacktop crew was courteous,hardworking and knowledgeable. The 12 tonnes of mix arrived hot and was installed in a professional and timely manner . ***** (crew foreman) was well organized and paid close attention to the surface grades and elevations to assure proper drainage. I have worked in the construction industry for over 20 years and know that often times crews are not so cohesive ,well organized or concerned about the completed project. Quality materials installed at specifications by a quality crew and foreman = good final product. My husband and I had delayed getting our driveway repaved for years because we were worried about the expense. What's more, our driveway was extensively damaged by previous roofers that used it for waste disposal, leaving behind gaping crevices that soon left our driveway in pieces -- as though it had been hit by a minor earthquake.
