We’re so, so grateful for K9 Academy and Anesh’s expertise. He’s truly helped turn our life around with our adolescent pup. 🐶 We started private sessions with him three months ago because our 1 year-old English Setter, Pippin, had been incredibly fearful of traffic noises most of his life, and was basically unwalkable. This was causing a lot of stress for us and for Pip, especially as we had been pouring in hours of training each day for months (under the advice of a previous trainer) with next to zero results. We were exhausted and at our wit’s end. Enter Anesh. Though it took us as humans a bit of time to trust the process and to feel confident about the training techniques, we stuck with it and began seeing the positive impacts rather quickly. ✨ Anesh went above and beyond to help the dog in front of him because it’s clear he genuinely loves dogs and wants what’s best for them. He took it session by session, evaluating Pippin each time and tailoring his recommendations based on what he observed. Though he appreciated Pippin was a tough dog to train for the average dog owner, Anesh was confident we could cut through the chaos with persistence, and insisted we put the work in ourselves rather than send him in for, say, a board and train. He could have easily just taken more of our money, but instead, he chose the most suitable training program and approach for Pip’s wellbeing. And that has done wonders for ours and Pip’s relationship. 💗 Throughout the process, Anesh always answered our questions and concerns, and was genuinely fun to be around. A lot of dog trainers can be condescending and intimidating, but Anesh has been nothing but kind, patient and positive. His style is a good blend of fun and no-nonsense, which translates well into his training techniques. As we enter the new year with our much more confident, fulfilled, obedient, off-leash reliable dog, we wanted to pass along our thanks and appreciation for Anesh and K9 Academy. 🙏🏼Looking forward to an adventure-filled 2026 where Pippin can live his best life. I trained my two dogs a few years ago with Juliet. I felt like a lot of the comments she made about my dogs were in called for. She laughed at my oldest and said “he is so fat, look at his head and body”. Step one is respect and this woman seemed to lack that. We definitely didn’t feel encouraged or supported after that. There are ways to give advice, but the way she went about it was so awful. She also comes off as emotionless, which is great for dogs I guess but not humans. Letting a stranger into your home to train your animals (family) isn’t easy and sometimes just not worth it. Better off finding another company! Just posting this years later as someone else had me ruined a poor experience with Juliet and I felt the need to share my experience with others if it helps them! Maybe some people training would help. Edit: the owners are now claiming it is not them and asking me to remove my post while insulting me in their response. That’s comical. I’m certain the 1 star reviews are legit. This many of us aren’t getting it wrong and in the off chance we are, YOU need to fix your business profile. Poor attitude from owners/leadership. My review will therefore remain. Hope that helps! More...

I originally left them a bad review. Needless to say I was a little frustrated in the moment and probably should have waited and gave them more time to contact me. Because when they did I felt bad. They were exceptionally polite and extremely helpful and more than willing to fix the problem. When I first called I got an answering machine left a message. They tried to call me back very promptly and I didn’t answer so they left me a message plus sent me a text. They were very persistent in making sure they fixed the problem. So I was very happy to change my review to a positive one and would recommend them to anyone in the future. Great bunch of people with a solid work ethic. Thanks again K9 ACADEMY FOR EVERYTHING. We had a wonderful experience with K9 Academy while training our first dog, Teddy. From the very beginning, Rosa, Anesh, and their team made us feel supported and confident as new dog owners. They helped Teddy learn to walk on leash calmly, which has been a game changer—our young kids can now take him on walks with confidence and ease. Even though Teddy picked up the training quickly and was showing great behavior from the second day, the K9 Academy team continued to check in with us about his behavior at home. They provided thoughtful guidance and practical tips to ensure we could lead Teddy effectively beyond the structured training sessions. We are very grateful for their expertise, professionalism, and ongoing support. K9 Academy has not only helped Teddy thrive but has also given our family the tools to enjoy life with him to the fullest. Highly recommended! More...

My 4.5-year-old Mini Goldendoodle was not reliable, he only listened if there was a treat involved, had poor recall, was reactive to other dogs while on leash, anxious, and showed signs of resource guarding. After spending one month in the board and train program, he came home a completely different dog, calmer, happier, and so much more confident. He now listens to all commands, is no longer reactive, and consistently looks to me for direction. Anesh and his amazing team are true professionals and passionate dog lovers. They took the time to understand my dog as an individual, and their care and commitment made all the difference. I will always be grateful to them and I highly recommend them! More...

Anesh and the K9 team were amazing to work with. We did the Level 1 & 2 obedience courses with our Australian Sheppard (Joey) and it has completely changed our lives with our dog. We signed up for these courses because Joey would pull while walking on leash and we had zero confidence in his recall when there were distractions. After the first training session his on leash walking improved immediately and was further improved after each session. Throughout the level 2 class we were taught how to properly use an e-collar and Joey learned what a correction with the e-collar meant. Now we fully trust him off leash, even with lots of dogs around and other distractions. Most of our walks now involve periods of Joey being off leash, and we live downtown Toronto with parks that are very busy. The training was worth very penny and I would highly recommend them to anyone. Our specific goals from the training were exceeded and Joey's overall behavior is much better. More...

The trainers at K9 have just been phenomenal and super professional with my 2 reactive Jindo mixes. Especially Sophie, whom did most of my 8 private sessions. We were able to get my dogs to walk without pulling after 2 sessions and that made my daily walks with them so much more stress-free and enjoyable (for me and the pups). Since my training ended, I am now able to enjoy hiking off leash with 100% recall with my dogs, something I never dreamed of doing since both my dogs were flight risks when I adopted them. K9 educated me with the right steps and gave me confidence to change my attitude towards my dogs. I would highly recommend K9 to anyone who has reactive dogs or behaviour issues, your life and your pup's life will change drastically, for the better of course!! Thank you K9!!! More...

If I could rate lower, I would. While reading through their website, I noticed they state: “Just as our training methods can differ, so too can our use of tools. Our trainers will only enlist the aid of training tools if they believe the dog will benefit and improve with their support.” However, once I arrived at class, I quickly learned that prong collars are not optional—they are required to participate in the program. While I am not against the use of training tools when used appropriately, I do have serious concerns about how they are applied at this facility. My dog was not given any time to adjust or be desensitized to the prong collar (fortunately, I had already taken the time to introduce it properly myself). Despite that, the trainers began using harsh corrections immediately. On several occasions, I witnessed dogs yelping in pain from corrections given by the trainer, including my own dog. When I tried to explain my dog’s training background and specific needs (he is a capable service dog in training who was attending the class solely to practice engagement around other dogs), my input was dismissed. I was told that unless I continued with their program, my dog would fail. Additionally, I observed prong collars being used on puppies in their puppy classes. It is widely advised not to use prong collars on puppies under 6 months of age, as this can cause harm to their developing neck and trachea. I would recommend saving your money and seeking out a legitimate balanced trainer who prioritizes proper tool introduction, individual dog needs, and ethical handling. More...

Our mini Aussie Shepherd puppy had reactivity problems essentially lunging and barking at everything; dogs, people, leaves. She knew her commands and wasn’t aggressive but we struggled to get her to listen or contain her vocal excitement when we were outside. Going through level 1 & 2 was literally life changing. Now at 1 year old she is non-reactive, can be fully off leash and has complete freedom on her walks with perfect recall. Prong and e-collar training can be intimidating but she used to run away from her harness and now she’ll gladly put her prong/e-collar on. We rarely have to correct her because the consistency and accuracy of this training is unmatched. Anesh and team do a phenomenal job of teaching you how your dog thinks even down to the breed, how to use the tools correctly and communicate to make the experience positive for your dog and yourself. Not only is Sadie smiling on our walks but now we all are. We get constant compliments on her training. If you’re even thinking about signing up don’t hesitate! More...

K9 Academy has changed our lives! Our 4 year old cockapoo has always been anxious, but after we relocated to Toronto, his anxiety was out of control. We weren't able to leave him alone at home, he was constantly anxious and activated. I did extensive research on the best board and train programs to give him the restart he deserves and found K9 Academy. Anesh and his team truly changed our lives. After 4 weeks in the board and train program, our dog is a much happier version of himself. He still has his adorable personality, but the structure K9 Academy brought to his life really helped to tone down his anxiety. He is a much calmer and happier version of himself. His obedience is very impressive. He is now walking at heel, is crate trained and has learned many very helpful commands. Situations that we would avoid as they brought high anxiety and frustration are now enjoyable experiences. Throughout the program, we received weekly updates with beautiful pictures to keep us informed on his progress. The two in person training sessions were also incredibly helpful to teach us how to upkeep his training. Overall, we truly believe that it was the best investment we could do to ensure our dog was a happier version of himself, which has improved our family's life as a whole. Thank you to Anesh and the trainers! Annie and Sam More...

Outstanding Experience with K9 Academy Dog Training Center! We’ve been meaning to share our experience with K9 Academy, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the results. We have a one-and-a-half-year-old Doberman Pinscher who, admittedly, has been quite a challenge for us. After trying various obedience schools in our area without much success, we were referred to K9 Academy. Although traveling from Barrie to Toronto was a bit of a trek, we can confidently say it has been more than worth it. Since working with K9 Academy, our Doberman has transformed into a well-behaved and obedient dog. She’s now a pleasure to take on walks, and we’ve gained the confidence to continue her training ourselves. We utilized several of K9 Academy’s services, including private training sessions with Sophie, group classes, and various workshops. Every session left us feeling equipped and empowered to train her correctly and the results are incredible. The entire team at K9 Academy is incredibly helpful, experienced, and committed to providing valuable feedback. We are so grateful for the positive impact K9 Academy has had on our dog’s behavior and our confidence as dog owners. Their methods work and we highly recommend them to everyone. More...

Finally my search for dog trainer ends. I have tried when hounds fly and some other private trainers. I have been training my dog arlo he is a poodle and is high energy. He was getting better as he was maturing but my ultimate goal was reliability. Ecollar and prong might look scary but what aneesh and team showed was exceptional. Take an example of this positive reinforcement wont work always. You take your dog out and call to give a treat and one day there a squirrel he runs to catch on the road. He doesnt give a f about your treat then this is were ecollar comes in. Generally if you go read dogs have very high pain tolerance more than humans and ecollar is i tried it on myself and felt tingled. And yes i believe that ecollar is a solid tap on shoulder for dog to listen when they are zoned out. K9 Academy does this in layered fashion over few weeks not like overnight your dog will be off leash reliable. Thanks Aneesh and team More...

**EDIT** It's been 2 years since we took their Reactivity & Aggression Course, and we've maintained some of their "touch up" courses since then. Willy has come such a long way! He has clear boundaries and expectations and lots of love. We're not anxious anymore and it's truly thanks to Anesh and Cass and the whole team at K9! Anesh and Cass helped us to transform our relationship with Willy (our rescue from Mexico). Willy developed behavioural issues, predominantly reactivity, about 8 months into our time with him. The issues only got more and more severe and we tried many different routes to train him. Unfortunately, we experienced quite a bit of stigma around this with other trainers: the use of a prong collar or any tools that helped us clearly communicate with Willy were judged or all-out banned, and the "solutions" offered in return were very expensive behavioural assessments to tell us what we already knew. Enter K9 Reactivity/Aggression Training: It was the first time we ever felt heard in a training class. Cass and Anesh respected Willy's boundaries and helped clarify for us any of our questions that we felt we could not ask at other training facilities. They helped us breakdown Willy's behaviour into manageable chunks and gave us tools and language to address each component. Anyone with a reactive dog knows how debilitating it can be to have the thing you love most in this world cause you so much stress. We're still working on our relationship with Willy. Learning to trust him around other people. Our close family and friends say Willy is like a completely different dog now. Which is rewarding within itself - when you're in the middle of it - the changes feel long and drawn out, and sometimes you're not sure they're even happening. Attaching some cutie patootie photos of him for reference. Three big cheers to Cass and Anesh and the whole team at K9 Academy! Much much love to you! More...

The team is absolutely great. We have a german shepherd/cane corso mix that began to show reactivity towards other dogs and was slowly starting to become reactive to people as well. As a 5ft woman, i started to become fearful and stopped taking her out on public walks out of fear. We were extremely skeptical when they said they'll fix her leash training on day 1. WE WERE SHOCKED BEYOND BELIEF THAT THAT WAS THE TRUTH. They communicated with our dog so effectively and now has a better understanding when we try to correct her. We later did 1 group workshop with other reactive dogs - the practices we were doing while exposing my dog to a lot of other dogs was incredible and worth the investment. Despite all the YouTube and google research we were doing and implementing these recommended practices, we learned through their team that our approach was absolutely wrong with our breed of dog. We still have 2 remaining sessions in our package, but our dog has been so great we don't see the point of going back -perhaps later in the year as a refresher. I now happily take my dog out on public walks with complete control and confidence. More...

We started working with Anesh and Sophie after our recently adopted rescue beagle and our springer spaniel were not getting along (both female adults). By the time we started training, it had gotten so bad that blood had been drawn in fights and our beagle would bark at our other dog every time she saw her. They couldn’t be together unless they were both on leash and interactions were very stressful. We did 8 sessions of private training and have seen so much progress in just a few months. Our dogs can now roam freely in the house and are even becoming friendly with each other, so much so that they recently cuddled up together in the same dog bed. We are now better equipped with the knowledge and tools to help prevent and manage negative interactions between them, and our beagle becoming off-leash trained allows them to continue strengthening their bond and have fun together outside. The training has also helped greatly with our beagle’s separation anxiety. We can’t thank Anesh and Sophie enough.
