Things started out great with these guys. They were on time and showed up daily for the first little while then slowly started missing days and eventually ghosted me with unfinished work. The renovations that they did a year ago are slowly falling apart already. I have floor boards separating, grout and silicone yellowing and coming off, boards on my new deck splitting, a creeky bathtub, a leaky toilet, and a completely unfinished skylight that looks awful. I paid them a deposit to replace the poly b underneath my trailer and they ghosted me before winter so I was in jeopardy of having my pipes freeze. I had to get my roommate to crawl underneath the trailer and do whatever repairs he could to get us by and now I'm out a deposit plus have to find someone else to do the job. I recently texted them and asked them to come back and finish the work but did not receive a reply, hence why I am writing this review. If you hire them, beware that their lower price point also comes with unprofessionalism. More...

Hollis just completed a fence replacement for us and our neighbour. The fence is beautiful and the workmanship is flawless. The work was completed quickly and with extreme care around existing landscaping in each of the affected yards. Hamilton and his team replaced two sections of fence and installed a gate. The project was particularly challenging because the old fence was integrated with a deck, bordered a greenhouse within a couple of inches, and the remainder was surrounded by established garden.
In addition to these challenges, the old fence posts were embedded with a significant amount of concrete (as someone who worked in landscaping before, it was a lot).
Despite the challenges, the quality of the fence is excellent. Little details like the use of brackets to support the gate and crossbeams are indicators of attention to detail and an aversion to taking shortcuts, which many contractors might quickly take. We expected the garden to be trampled, but this isn’t what happened, care had been taken around our beloved plants. The garden emerged untouched.
Hamilton and his team were extremely polite and professional during the whole process. They had a couple of things to finish and swung by on a holiday Monday to finish up. My wife and I were impressed. They delivered on time and on budget.
We have one more section of fence to replace, which we are hoping to complete next year. My intention is to hire Hollis Home Improvements for that project as well. Luckily, there are fewer obstacles on that side 😊.

What inspired you to start your own business?
I wanted to utilize my many aspects of skills that I have developed in construction over the past 20 years as an electrician. Besides working with clients on a more personal level my oldest son Steven has joined the business working alongside me as well.

Our family business means we definitely care about our quality and attention to the budget as well as listening to the needs and wants of our customers as little as they may seem.
Being a small business means a lower overhead which transforms into lower costs for our customers and less stress equalling into more attentive focus on our tasks at hand.
