James was extremely communicative and organized in the months and weeks approaching the wedding, being proactive in ensuring audio setup was working without a hitch in advance, and checking in on our ‘must-have’ songs to be played . I reached out to James to DJ our wedding after I heard him spin at a corporate summer party a few years ago. It was absolutely the right choice - he curated an incredible, tight setlist with a pretty diverse list of songs. He worked with crowd pleasers, personal favourites, and some more obscure cuts blending everything together in a seamless way. Our crowd didn’t feel the need to request much - as the setlist was already great - but James also handled the couple of requests he got with finesse. I’ve heard him spin regularly at my gym and also had the chance to experience his work at a friend’s wedding—and both times, he absolutely nailed it. At the gym, his mixes keep the energy high and the vibe just right, which definitely helps push through a tough workout. But where he really stood out was at the wedding. He knew exactly how to read the crowd, kept the dance floor packed all night, and transitioned seamlessly between different styles of music to suit everyone. What’s the secret to keeping a party dancing all night long?
The key is reading and adapting to the room. A great DJ is always thinking ahead, not just about the next song but the fourth or fifth track in the queue, while staying ready to pivot if the energy shifts. It’s about sensing the crowd’s mood, gauging energy levels, and varying the music to keep everyone engaged. Part of this is sprinkling in tracks that make people say, “Wow, I haven’t heard that in awhile!”—those nostalgic hits that get everyone singing along and dancing all night long.
How would you describe your ‘style’?
My go-to genres are EDM, hip hop, R&B, and pop, but I pride myself on appreciating all forms of music. I love finding creative ways to blend different genres together, creating unique mixes that haven’t been heard before. I believe there are countless hidden musical gems waiting to be discovered, and my goal is to uncover them one by one, giving every set a fresh and memorable vibe.
What do you love most about your job?
I love my job because I have a genuine passion for music. One of life’s purest joys is experiencing music in a beautifully curated mix, especially in a dance setting with friends. Being able to create that experience for others and see them enjoying it brings me so much joy and fulfillment.

I put in the homework before the gig even starts. I spend countless unbilled hours carefully curating songs that match my clients’ tastes, especially for weddings. I don’t believe in cookie-cutter sets—every event deserves a playlist tailored to the people attending. Your event’s music should reflect your vision, and I make it my mission to ensure that's the case while keeping the energy and flow perfect for the night.
