Not recommended.1. In 2020, CEL designed for us to cut windows. Now city want them to sign off to close files. They said they never took that job. They claimed they were here but declined the job. Luckily we found the files with their stamp and emailed to CEL. Since then it has been 11 days. They just disappeared. We emailed, texted, called them and left voice messages. No reply. They are dodging us.2. In 2023, we paid CEL to design a way to support the load so that we can cut a concrete wall in basement, The man from CEL went to the attic and checked, but identified the wrong load to support. If we support according to their stamped design, the whole house might collapse. We have to pay again to another engineer company to help us. They designed totally differently, supporting different beams. Work has been done. No problem. We have those two designs with stamps from CEL and another company as proof. More...

I have used Capacity engineering for my first home build/renovation and I am very satisfied with the service. Here at CEL, we take pride in helping smaller clients and businesses such as contractors and homeowners, as well as larger clients such as the commercial developer and condo corporations. No job is too small, and all jobs that we take on deserve and receive the same high standard of work which we strive to uphold.
Load Bearing Wall Removals
Determine if walls are load bearing or non-load bearing. If load bearing, we can provide the required structural designs so the wall can be removed. We also create drawing sets for and can assist with, the permit submission process to your Township/City.
New Build Design
We perform structural design for new builds and assist with any and all structural components from the footings and foundations upward. Our goal is to ensure the building is safe, strong and stable while remaining in good condition over the entire expected lifespan.
Foundation Investigations
CEL has extensive experience in the forensic investigation and review of foundation cracks to determine if they are structural or non-structural. We also assist with determining what we believe is the cause behind the damage as well as specify creative and cost-effective foundation repair solutions.
Additions to Existing Buildings
Whether you are adding another storey (or two) to your home/building or extending it outwards in a direction you like, CEL provides structural design services to specify all new structural components required to support the addition. For additions on-top of existing buildings, we also determine if the existing strip or pad footings can support the new load. If not, we also carry out in-place underpinning designs so the foundation does not need to be re-constructed.
