What do you love most about your job?
My passion has always been teaching and coaching. I started an exterior painting business to pay my way through university, and fell in love with entrepreneurship, training, and leading employees. Small business became the outlet for my passion – the place where I could train, coach, and develop people. At the same time, I learned the real hard day-to-day challenges of managing a business: making payroll, negotiating with clients, and motivating staff.
After university I started working on the corporate side in the franchising world where I experienced recruiting, training, and leading hundreds of franchise owners. I managed large divisions and led corporate staff. Experienced the real pressures of needing to deliver results. I was fortunate to work in a company that cared deeply about the success of franchise owners; and cared deeply about training and developing leaders.
I used the things I learned early in my career next building training programs and consulting with business owners in home services, construction, and manufacturing. I love spending my days concocting systems and tools that can optimize a small business, and sharing and implementing these with entrepreneurs from any industry.
I am also trained and certified as a non-directional professional coach. This coaching style is a creative, challenging, and thought provoking process that helps people unlock their professional and personal potential. I provide coaching services to small business owners and their key employees to help create resilient companies that people want to work at.
What inspired you to start your own business?
My mission is to help small business owners transition from busy day-to-day managers of their company to strategic and structured entrepreneurs, while providing their organization the business skills training and coaching that will make their company the place everyone wants to work.
