Took a knife skills course here last week, and even though it was their first course for this specific topic, it was amazing! I learned everything I need from choosing the perfect knife for the job, how to sharpen (the best part), and chop correctly. And we got to help make a delicious dinner! My Wife and I were just married on Sunday, and from the moment we arrived Start Fresh Kitchen blew us away with a perfect catering experience. We had 105 people at our event, and they pulled it off seamlessly. Everything was done with such efficiency, it really seemed like a 5 star dining experience. Not only did they take care of the food, they were serving us, made the cake, and both the owners were present to ensure we were happy. Had this team cater a private party in my home. To say we were blown away by the entire experience would be an understatement. The brilliant promotion of many local products was mixed extremely well with an assortment of fresh beautiful flavours. No detail was missed in the experience - menu, presentation, service, professionalism, guest education. Chef Michael served up a delicious family-style meal after we mingled over appetizers, while Sarah kept the wine flowing. I can't say enough compliments about Start Fresh. They catered our wedding on Friday July 28,2017 and they did a wonderful job and exceeded our expectations. Not only was the food absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly, they also met our every need with our families diet restrictions, allergies and vegetarians/vegans, and even made a special plate for my mother in law with MS who requires a certain diet. They were friendly with the guests, and were very attentive, explaining what each dish was to them, and clearing plates and keeping things tidy the whole evening. We did the pasta cooking class and had the greatest time. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by the chef and offered a glass of prosecco and a local cheese tray to nibble on before we got started. The chef walked us through how to make pasta dough and then we were put in to groups. With the help of their staff they walked us through it step by step on how to make the recipes, what it should look like, taste like etc. What was really great is they showed us other ways to use the ingredients like how you can take the gnocchi dough and make croquettes or how to change the flavours like adding fresh basil to the dough. They also told us how to save the leftover pieces, how to store your pasta. I learnt a ton! All the recipes they provided us were created with local ingredients and were delicious. They were well written so you could easily re-create it at home You were able to buy a bottle of wine while you made the recipes and they offered some serious delicious options from The Hatch winery. They had a verity of tools and equipment for us to use but they gave us less expensive options if we wanted to purchase our own equipment like a pasta roller which was really nice. They also gave us tips on what to look out for if we went out and bought the equipment on our own which was helpful. This experience was 5 start service from start to finish. You can tell this is their passion as the whole experience felt like it was very thoughtfully planned and laid out. I would highly recommend Start Fresh and we will be back to try what else they have to offer. More...
