Shelby, who was just 13, started her weekly online singing lessons 27 months ago with Merilyn. Tuesday was her favorite after-school lesson day, Shelby really enjoyed the singing lesson. We feel so lucky to find such a wonderful singing teacher Merilyn. Merilyn’s teaching is so professional. She cares, respects, and encourages Shelby. Merilyn not only brought out Shelby's best but also boosted her confidence big time. From a shy kid, Shelby turned into this confident performer, bagging the Runner-up spot at the Eisteddfod Song & Dance Championship (18 years & Under) this year. Sometimes as teacher I have no idea what influence I have on students and it is so encouraging to hear how much Shelby loved her lessons and how she has developed and grown as a person as well as a gifted singer. Merilyn is a very professional and down to earth Guitar teacher. I went from not knowing how a guitar works to being able to play a song with the guitar, both finger style and with chords. She is patient and positively encouraging and I highly recommend her to others who want to learn how to play a guitar. More...

As a late-comer to voice, I felt nervous and anxious in my early lessons with Merilyn. She helped me over the early "I can't do it" hurdles with patience and latitude in her approach to teaching breath & voice technique, and music theory.

Within 18 months, I felt confident enough to perform on stage, singing Jazz, and since then she has invited me to sing with her at public gigs.

For me, she keeps her approach to my training light-hearted and yet well-focussed on the skills needed for the musical passages on which we are working.

I am grateful to her, for helping me to really experience music as a full body process and not just to hear musical sound. The joy music brings me now is profound; I commend her to you as a teacher and musical mentor. More...

Merilyn is a fantastic teacher, when I came to learn guitar I was very inexperienced. Her teaching style and mentoring has given me the confidence to learn the basics and to be able to learn at my own pace. It is one thing to be a teacher and it is another not only teach but to inspire your students to want to achieve more, to grow in your music capabilities.
