Q&As

I love teaching owners about their animals and how to incorporate things into their animal's environment to help their animals use their natural instincts like allowing the animals heal themselves through plant extracts and finding the best ideas to meet their animal's chasing, shredding, or exploring needs. I love to find the best solutions for animals and humans and create long-lasting relationships.

Since I was 18 I was running my own dog-walking and pet-sitting business. I then opened up a puppy school in Durban but after a year I moved to Cape Town and began focusing more on animal behaviour consulting. Animals are my absolute passion in life, they are so innocent and will love their owners unconditionally, they have also served humans for centuries, so it seems only fair to give back to them by ensuring their health and wellness needs are met!

I am one of the few animal behaviourists that takes a holistic approach in that I assess all areas of the animal's life before trying to change or fix the problem behaviour. A lot of underlying causes are linked to behaviour problems. For example, a lot of aggression cases have been linked to underlying pain which affects moods and ultimately behaviour. I also assess whether the animal takes an optimistic or pessimistic outlook on life which can then guide me in the approaches I take with your animal. What I will not do, is come into your home and intimidate your animal in order for them to STOP the behaviour. Although this may momentarily fix the behaviour (well suppressing the animal's feelings), it will not deal with the root cause of the issue and you will not see long-lasting results. I am the equivalent of a human psychologist for animals, so you can expect the same level of professionalism when it comes to reports and assessments and gentle guidance in the correct approaches to help your animal reach their full potential.

I can drive to your home for a private lesson but I can also help you online with the use of my own dogs.

Clients can let me know beforehand if they would like me to wear a mask in their homes.

Services

We assess all areas of the animal's life including health, diet, pain, mood, emotions, and lifestyle and only then discuss enrichment, management, and training plans. We believe in building a solid and emotionally stable dog before all else!

This service is for owners who haven't yet found a pup and every other stage until the puppy is 6 months. This can include helping owners decide on a breed that suits their lifestyle, assisting owners to find the correct breeder or rescue organization as well as showing owners how to conduct temperament tests in order to find the perfect match that will suit their needs. We can then begin to prepare the home for the new arrival and ensure you have everything to meet the pup's needs. We can also assist in potty training and other puppy training needs.

When animals display mental or physical discomfort their scent and taste receptors become altered and they would naturally begin to seek out wild plants and herbs to heal themselves.

Zoopharmacognosy is the practice of self-medication in animals and is a widely studied subject.

Since animals living in our urban homes have limited resources, we bring the wild plants to them, during our sessions, in hopes that they can find and select herbs that can benefit their lives.

These sessions can be for animals who:
- Are in pain
- Have gut issues
- Any liver, gallbladder, bladder or urinary issues
- Have itchy skin or other skin problems
- Tumours or growths
- Display anxious behaviour
- Show other behavioural concerns like depression, aggression, separation distress etc.
