Our day 1 stay started of with some obstacles... We where taken care of immediately . Further encounted some unfrendly visits and alas at midnight the staff was able to run around and help us again. .the freindly staff ensured we where taken care of. Hats of to Mandisa.. First time meeting her. She put up with all my complaints amd concerns with a smile.. We have had an amazing time at This place and we will be visiting again soon.. I would recommend just the visiting of tala and the picnic area, but the restaurant a definite NO! We had Christmas lunch there and it was not planned or managed well at all. I blame the management, f&b manager and gm, which were both there. Many items that were supposed to be on the menu were not at the buffet. I would say important items, ie, sauces for the calamari and fish starters?? The plates were put at the entrance, but the starters at the exit 🙄 Broccoli was old, no roasted root veg. Lady carving the meat was left alone. She asked me to call someone to help her 🤦🏻‍♀️ Then, Tala’s main attraction, crème brûlée didn’t came out after numerous people asking, I eventually asked the gm and both him and the f&b manager said it was coming. The chef eventually came to explain that it got damaged and we won’t be getting crème brûlée 🤬 The gm and f&b manager disappeared and did not even have the decency to apologise personally. The dessert table was a disappointment because many items on the menu were not there. I asked were the carrot cake and mango sorbet was and was told it was coming and the next thing, it gets slapped on our table without me knowing because here I am waiting in the buffet area! What a poor show. I really think you gm and f&b managers should take more pride in what they do. We had to go to the bar for drinks. Waiters did not take orders, and when we went to settle the bill, we were over charged. More...

Although I laid my complaint upon us leaving, we still have not had feedback from management. Very poor service and we lost our money due to paying for a game drive we didn't go on because visitors were without masks on the vehicle and we left for our own safety.

I would strongly recommend a visit to Tala. My partner and I spent two nights at Tala (at the Fisherman's Cottage) and our chalet was cosy, clean and well-equipped. We had a visit from an ostrich, a family of warthog, a few buck and many birds. We went on a game drive offered by Tala, which I'd also strongly recommend. The ranger leading the game drive was well informed and funny. We got to see, among other animals, a white rhino and her calf (which is testament to the great work done in the reserve by Lawrence from RAVE). The staff, especially one of the managers, Jannie, were extremely helpful when we experienced car troubles. I cannot express my gratitude enough to Tala for our lovely stay! More...
