We recently introduced our 7 month old kitten to our 7 year old Boston Terrier who had never met a cat before. It was a daunting experience and couldn’t have done it without the expertise, patience and guidance from Koven. My little Jack Russell was really struggling with a massive move, being integrated with my moms dogs and being neutered. I was at the point where I was ready to give up and accept that his behavior would not improve. Koven was kind enough to do a telephonic consultation with me, after asking for several important video's to assess the issue. She provided a structured report and plan for Jax and I can honestly say that he has improved tremendously since starting with the plan. Before I was introduced to Koven I was convinced we would have to live with cats that hated each other permanently. They would take turns going for each other. The one was very fearful and hid under the bed most of the time. We were at a loss. Koven spent time with our cats and got to understand the reason behind their behaviour. My eyes were opened and we realized how much we were doing wrong. But Koven brought hope and gave me so many exercises to do to help the cats. What a transformation. They are not friends but the attacking has stopped. Our fearful one has become braver and no longer hides all day. She has become more playful and is interested in venturing outside. Koven came to my home to assist with my extremely anxious Yorkie cross, Jazzy. She is a rescue adopted a month ago. Her separation anxiety was so bad that I literally could not leave home without her, her reaction was too heartbreaking. After Koven’s visit and a plan in hand Jazzy and I started working on her trust and confidence re abandonment. This was a week ago and I already experience a huge improvement in this little girl. We still have a lot of work to do, a life time of disappointment, neglect and abuse cannot be erased in a short space of time, BUT I have so much hope and confidence in the process. All the tasks and exercises are simple and totally enjoyable for Jazzy, nothing strenuous or stressful. Koven came to help us after adopting Coco, a Border Collie cross from New Hope. He has fear aggression issues with strange humans and dogs and heightened levels of stress and anxiety. The problem became evident over some days after the adoption and got progressively more unpredictable and intense. With Koven's expert guidance we have managed to drastically reduce the frantic behavior that accompanies these situations and therefore are able to avoid dangerous encounters.
