Visited this much talked about estate during the weekend and was sadly very underwhelmed. The rooms, well more like the entire resort, looked so neglected. The air-conditioning in our room and apparently on the entire floor of our unit was not working. We called and asked for help and was quickly brought an extremely dust-caked fan, which we turned away. The restaurant left alot to be desired during dinner time. Our waiter was rude and knew absolutely nothing about the menu and seemed visibly annoyed when we asked questions. The hotel and restaurant are a bit tired, lack ambiance. The room is clean but the remote I’d damaged, the chair is broken and the shower is impossible to keep at an evenntemperature. Internet in the room is only available if you stand by the door and hold your phone aloft. You might have been thinking about these crooks every time you hear a word spell caster, me too that's why I never bother with such kinds of lies. Christmas Lunch at the hotel this year was an utter disappointment we have been coming to San Lameer for 5 years and have been having lunch at the hotel every year for 4 of those 5. We have always enjoyed the experience until today. Despite us having booked early, we were seated at a table which was squashed into the middle of other tables as a last minute solution, unable to move our chairs out to go and dish from the buffet, then we were moved to another table on an uneven surface in the middle of foot traffic with chairs and tables that were wonky and the speaker blaring in our ears so much that we could not hear each other. The food did not justify the R400 per person we were charged. It was terrible. The meat was dry, there was not enough food. No utensils for the food, starters in between the mains, tasteless. The gammon was off and the precooked and cut meat was horrible. The options were limited and they were not even executed well. The service was slow, and it was clear that the hotel was under staffed. The management did not care at all about the fact that they were basically ruining our Christmas Day. Over and above all of this, we were smothered with a horrible raw sewage smell. It all felt cheap and below the standard that we are used to and expect from a 4 star hotel. I am sad to say that we will never again be making use of the hotel for our Christmas Lunch as we can most certainly get better value and service for our money elsewhere. More...
