Martin is an excellent architect. He pays attention to detail and really is invested in the work of the client. He helped us navigate very difficult terrain - due to owning a house considered a 'heritage site'.
He spent six (6) months going the extra mile to draw up plans, do the necessary applications and to get them approved. We never once had to follow-up with him, he was always keeping us in the loop of any developments.
He has event linked us up with other service providers and continues to support us even after his mandate with us has come to an end.
If you are looking for seamless and personable service from an expert who pays attention to details, provides individual client attention and actually knows what he is doing, then Martin Firer Architects is the choice.

I'm giving Martin Firer Architects 5 stars after they designed a new entrance to our 1920's home in Kenilworth. Please contact me if you would like to view the final outcome. The project consisted of new boundary wall sections, partitioning off the vehicle parking from the garden and creating separate pedestrian gate access with a "klompie" brick pathway leading to the front door. The design had to fit in with a mixture of original and new features and enhance and balance an imposing facade with a very large tree in a smaller garden. A benefit of their design was the rain water harvesting solution to complement existing well-water to support the garden. More...

What’s your interior design process?
I start with a conversation with you to:
- define and clarify your exact requirements, both functional and aesthetic
- better understand the space in which the work will be done
- learn about your lifestyle in order to create a space that suits your way of living


I then collect information about the space in which the work will be done (photos, existing drawings, measurements etc)


Once I have this information, I prepare hand-drawn conceptual sketch plans which I present to you as a first draft for discussion. At this stage, I also present concept images - photos of projects that represent the look and feel of the proposed space.


I repeat the sketch design process until you are happy with the proposal, and at each iteration, I add more detail until you have a complete picture of the space.


At this point, I convert the sketch plans into computerised technical drawings that you can use to obtain quotes or brief a contractor.

I have experience working in a range of styles from classic to contemporary; modern farmhouse to urban chic, and much more.


I work with want you want and also advise on what would suit an existing space best.

A desire to create beautiful spaces born of a deep understanding of how important the space around you is for your health and wellbeing.

Architecture
The design and project management of new builds, additions, and alterations, in the residential and commercial sectors.
I can provide a full scope of work including design, building plan approvals, tender documentation and project management, or any limited selection of this range of services.
Interior Design
The design of the interiors of your home including joinery (cabinets/wardrobes/vanities etc), finishes, lighting, sanitaryware & architectural details (eg staircases, screens etc).
I work on projects for whole houses or selected rooms as required, and will work on new builds or refurbishments.
Landscape Design
The design of the outside areas of your home or business.
This includes hard landscaping (paving/paths etc), structures (pergolas/water/features/braai areas etc), and planting.
