It is with pleasure that I write this review for Helen Batten. Helen Batten is a valued grade 6 and 7 teacher at my school, Monarch Academy. As principal, I had the privilege to choose Helen as part of my teaching staff.
Helen started at my school at the start of 2021, but I have known her for 5 years. She is a driven, professional teacher who develops strong and inspiring relationships with her students.
Helen is an insightful educator who always goes the extra mile, or perhaps kilometre in this instance. Helen has brough in new creative and challenging PE lessons for our students and is involved in the fund raising for the school.
Helen assists her students in every way possible by providing extra support and materials where required. She has a talent at teaching simple as well as more complex concepts and the ability to identify and address problem areas. She uses imaginative and unique teaching techniques and applies them to her lessons, so that her learners come out more skilled and confident every day.
Helen takes pleasure in challenging her students in new and exciting ways, pushing their thinking beyond what is expected.
Helen has a true passion for teaching and is always willing to lend a helping hand to her colleagues and students alike. She has admirable communication skills when it comes to communicating with parents and is a highly respected by her students and colleagues.
I would highly recommend Helen as a tutor or teacher in any field due to her kind nature, intrinsic knowledge, patience and inspirational work ethic, as well as her ability to shape and encourage students to achieve to their best of her abilities.

Q&As

I love waking up in the morning and going to teach. Knowing that it is me who inspires these kids to want to learn is the most incredible feeling and one that I undertake with great responsibility.

I became tired of the 9 - 5 rat race in the corporate world. The pandemic showed me that it is so important to follow your heart and do what you love because life is so fragile.

I am very patient, very energetic and very kind. I believe kids should be taught with love and patience, it's what they respond best to and what brings out their abilities and their unique personalities.

Yes, I have a dedicated work space (classroom) with high speed fibre connectivity.

Teaching face to face on a daily basis, although our school is quite small, we are very strict with our Covid protocols. We are all sanitised upon entry and temperatures are checked and recorded and again just before school closes for the day, even including the parents who drop the children off.
Masks are worn throughout the day during class.
