I am attending an online short course - an introduction to, and overview of, business management. The course entails reviewing the fundamentals of effective business management, with sessions dealing with the various facets involved.
It is valuable because it can fill in the gaps which often exist in a business owner's/manager's approach to 'running' their business. Richard has obviously done a lot in this field, and shares his understanding and experience in the course of the sessions. Helpful summary notes, and references are given.

What inspired you to start your own business?
The incredible gap that exists in most organizations that I have experience of between the excellent management theory and the very poor and unenlightened management practice, which causes so much unnecessary misery to so many. I seek to bridge that gap by applying what I have learned to managers and businesses recognizing their need to improve and wanting to learn.
Why should our clients choose you?
Good question, perhaps many shouldn't! Those who want to improve the management:

- of others whom they manage and
- of other managers who in turn manage others.
When we first began this business in 1997, we worked in partnership with a firm of Chartered Accountants. Before we began offering our services to their existing clients we discussed which of them we thought would benefit most. To our amazement we were completely wrong. Those we thought needed our help the most were not interested and those who we thought were doing a great job, were the ones who employed us!

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
I have not made any changes to keep customers safe from Covid-19 which I perceive not to be the threat that it once was, but I am willing to respect any requests to do so (e.g. wearing a mask, not meeting in person etc.).
