Q&As

It is wonderful to watch the healing process in action, to see clients grow in confidence as they develop greater insight and inner strength. I love what I do, and I love seeing people benefit from therapeutic support and engagement.

Before working for myself, I noticed that organisations I was employed with often had lengthy waiting lists for therapeutic support, and, due to time contraints and a requirement to respond to crisis situations, many people and families found themselves unable to access help when it was most needed. Having the opportunity to work one-on-one with people and give them time and support in a way I did not have the opportunity to before is a privilege.

I like to bring warmth and creativity into the therapeutic session, and to work with the person to ensure they feel comfortable and safe. In working with my client, my goal is to always help to alleviate distress and anxiety and to facilitate the creation of a new narrative or life story. Working together to map out new goals is an essential component to personal wellbeing and to the development of social bonds and coping mechanisms, particularly when shared in a supportive setting. I have seen self-esteem enhanced and relationships within the individual’s personal life better understood and explained. There is often greater self-understanding and a reduction in feelings of helplessness and anxiety.

I can provide both. I work through a secure online forum, and I also work in-person, meeting clients at my office. I can also facilitate a combination of on-line and in-person therapy.

Lockdown provided me with the opportunity to facilitate on-line therapeutic support.
