I wanted a traditional Irish pub experience. I did not want the craziness of the Temple Bar. I found this pub and wasn’t disappointed. There were plenty of locals when I visited on a Sunday night. A couple gave you a “look” but most didn’t care. I sat with an elderly gentlemen who moved to Dublin from up north a dozen years ago. He was welcoming. Lively. A guy gave the barman a lot of verbal abuse. But his language fell on the other customers as well. They should have put him out, rather than just waiting for him to go. Large place in busy area.

We found this gem by accident. It was a short walk from our hotel. We stopped by for a pint 5 out of 7 nights. The live music and staff were wonderful. The food was reasonably priced and tasty. I would recommend Malloys highly. More...

This pub was a welcoming haven for an ould scholar errant on his way back home to the European mainland all the way from Connemara, having lost the Holyhead ferry not of his own doing, ach sin scéal eile - agus fágamaid sin mar atá sé. .. The last pint and a half at closing time sweetened my extra night in Dublin - unplanned as it was - as the full Irish breakfast for lunch sweetened my delayed and yet ill-desired departure from the lovely green shores of Erin.
