If you’re taking a short-haul flight (<3hr flight time), you have to be there at the airport at least 2 hours before or 1. 5 hrs at stretch. You can take Dublin Express bus from the airport if you are flying into Dublin; take an online ticket which cheaper than on the spot pay (£10). I would highly suggest checking and adjusting your schedule to the airport if you’re taking a public transport a day before your scheduled flight from Dublin Airport. T2 and T1 are connected through walkway but ask the driver to drop you at the right terminal to save time. At the security, put all your liquid stuff in a 1 litre pouch given to each person, remove any metallic or electronic devices and your jacket/scarf. There’s no immigration check at departure. The airport itself is old, from my experience, very inconvenient, we used stairs all the way to the next gate. I'm not sure if it's only international because I saw elevators and scalators, but not where we exited. The lady customs was not friendly, but I guess that's just her doing her job. Our flight was delayed, and that causes us to miss our connecting flights. Overall, with my experience, I will avoid layover here. More...

A relatively small airport with friendly staff. On our arrival, clearing customs took literally no time at all probably since it was 10am on a Monday. We made our way to and from the city center with Dublin Express busses (€8 one way, €14 return), which was fairly straightforward and quick (30-35 mins ride with no traffic). On our departure, we arrived 2 hours earlier than our international flight and were perfectly fine. There are water fountains and bottle top up stations scattered across the airport. If you wanted to eat here, your options are quite limited (it is a small airport, after all). We did not wait at the gate, but seating around the gates were somewhat limited. So it probably would be wise to locate the gate, and try to find quiet seating areas somewhere else nearby. There are a lot of toilets inside, so I don't imagine finding a toilet being a problem here. Quick tip: Try to hit the left-most machines at the security control in Terminal 1. They have new machines there that don't require you to take anything out of your luggage or bags (including liquids). They can check everything through the machines. More...

Connected from Naples to Dublin. Dublin was very fast to move to move through security and also had efficient workers, was a clean airport, and very easy to navigate with clearly marked signs for USA travelers to clear customs for USA while in Ireland so when arrived in NY could breeze out of JFK without clearing customs again.
