Q&As

You give us a call!
We will help you do a ‘feasibility check’, this means checking the soundness of the structure itself. Looking for any damp, or mould, as well as if the ground is sinking in any spots and assessing insulation, ventilation and access requirements. Finally we will verify, on your behalf, with the local planning regulations no whether your project needs permission or not.

1. Initial Assessment:, feasibility study, measurements, and concept discussions
2. Design and Planning: create plans and obtain necessary permissions
3. Preparation: clear out the garage and address structural needs
4. Construction: install insulation, flooring, walls, plumbing, and electrical systems
5. Finishing Touches: add final fixtures, finishes, and decor
6. Inspection and Handover: ensure compliance with building regulations

We can also help anyone determine if their loft is suitable for conversion with a feasibility check. This includes measuring the height of the space, can you stand up straight? Typically head height will measure to least 2.5 metres for a suitable loft conversion. Next would be to check for structural integrity and roof pitch (steepness), and then again to review planning permissions and any restrictions from your local authority.

1.Initial Assessment: feasibility study of the loft to evaluate against intended use
2. Design and Planning: draft plans, structural calculations, and permissions
3. Preparation: strengthen the floor, add steel beams if necessary
4. Construction: create dormers (if applicable), install insulation, wiring, and plumbing
5. Staircase Installation: ensure safe and accessible entry
6. Finishing: complete walls, flooring, and decor
7. Inspection and Handover: certify compliance with building regulations

I think personally for me, the best part comes right at the end. To see how our thoughtful designs transform spaces, and improve the way people live and work in them. They don’t have to be large scale transformations either - just the smallest bit of TLC (from all sides) can have the biggest impact and thats what I love the most about the work I do and the company I’ve created.

I have a real passion for the artistry of the industry. I love creating unique spaces, also, I’m a people person! One of the great things about the industry I’m in, is how dynamic it is - from the people I meet, to the projects I undertake for them. There is nothing as satisfying as working closely with clients, and my team, to turn design ideas and visions into a tangible and functioning reality. Being the director of my own business means that my work ethic, my working philosophy, is totally ingrained into how Ellis+Company operate. This is something I could never defer from, so starting my own company was naturally the way to go.

Hopefully by now you have gleaned from my answers that we’re all a pretty approachable bunch. We pride ourselves on being professional experts who can always successfully deliver to you a job well done, whilst at the same time being competitive and always always friendly. Your house is your home, whatever that means to you, and is something we take very seriously and is evident by the care you receive during the duration of your project with us.

We are unable to provide online or remote services. That is just the nature of our work unfortunately - we are hands ON!

During the pandemic we implemented a variety of methods to keep both the customer and ourselves safe. All initial consultations were conducted online, as well as moving any urgent meetings online as well. We also began offering digital document exchanges and approvals, this made certain stages of the process that much quicker, and as a result are still in place today.
