Mooie guesthouse in de mooie natuur van Franschhoek, midden in de wine estates. Tal van heel lekkere restaurantjes in Franschhoek, super verblijf gehad in Val d' Or. Een speciale vermelding voor de gastheer omdat ons kredietkaart gefraudeerd werd en daarmee ook geblokkeerd werd door onze bank, heeft de gastheer ons ongelooflijk goed geholpen met het vinden van een huurauto. Want zonder kredietkaart een huurauto vinden is bijna onmogelijk. Toch is het hem gelukt bij een plaatselijk agentschap, waarvoor oprechte dank! Dus voor ons een dikke 10/10 voor de service! More...

Stunning location. Fantastic breakfast included which helps start the family off well in the morning. Great braii and wood provided which helps end the day well for the grown-ups. Lovely grounds and pool to play in. Very spacious cottage, all on one floor, each room big and with an enormous by UK standards en-suite. Superb location, very quiet and felt very safe and baboon-free yet just a couple of minutes drive from Franschoek village centre on the road out towards Paarl. Lovely views from the terrace space outside. Some interesting books provided and quite a few board games. Free sherry and port in the main house which I didn't try :-( Friendly welcome on arrival - Matiba (sorry might have misspelt as it was a week ago now) managed to charm our tricky middle daughter within seconds. In order to enjoy the Wine Tram we decided to sleep in Franschoek.||The Guest House is only 10 minutes away from the Tram. We stayed as a family of 2 adults and 2 teenage girls for 3 nights. Our garden suite was lovely and well equipped. The room was attended to by cleaning ladies daily. ||||The property is full of charm and natural beauty and was so peaceful during our stay. We seldom saw other guests. The pool area was ideal for relaxing.||||The staff cannot do enough for you and go beyond your expectations. Mandla welcomed us warmly and made some excellent restaurant and wine tasting recommendations. He was a star. As were all the staff. Val DOr is a hidden treasure in Franschoek. We went for the Bastille Day Festival, and our stay was perfect. The room was spacious and comfy, the grounds are impeccably landscaped, and the breakfast was delightful. Go!
