I started this journey in 2015 when I surprised my friends and family by pursuing an interest in financial planning and investment management. I had previously worked for many years in the emergency medicine healthcare field and had also spent time running my own businesses as an entrepreneur.
Some of these worked out well while others did not.
This led me to become a management and business consultant for a Venture Capital firm specialising in entrepreneur development. My interests remained in helping people, only now it was in a more personal space.
The journey for the first 18 months was not easy, and while I was growing my practice, I struggled like any other professional establishing a new practice. Some months it went well, others not so well. Too little money coming in, too much going out. Balancing long term goals with short term realities.
I needed to pay careful attention to my finances and had to work hard at practising what I preached. My training, experience and education gave me a slight advantage, and great mentors filled in when it was needed. Proper money management, realistic budgeting and sticking to my long terms goals pulled me through and if it worked for me, then it must work for my clients. I realised that the clients I was meeting with, shared many of these same challenges. All they had to do was commit to making a change, and choose a partner to give them the knowledge and accountability to make it work.
I now spend my days helping clients reach their goals for financial security.
