Une endroit à faire rêver où l'on voudrait y rester longtemps. Situé en altitude, l'air est frais la végétation luxuriante. Il faudra emprunté un chemin sinueux pour se rendre au sommet pour découvrir ce bel hôtel.||||La vie de château avec ses immenses portes. Grande réception et de nombreux sofas pour s'y détendre et prendre un verre. Une belle piscine avec un bain tourbillon dans un cadre enchanteur.||||La salle à dîner donne une ambiance particulière avec ses belles poutres en bois.||||Il y a plein d'activités sur le site, un immense labyrinthe en pierre, faites l'essai, 15,000 pas assurés.||||Un étang de pêche pour faire la pêche à la mouche, possibilité de louer l'équipement sur place. Was 'n great place and the garden staff tried to steal my phone that was on charge in the hotel but i got it it back after I almost smacked him he broke down and gave me my phone back and they fired him

Good old fashioned colonial architecture and furnishings... Bay windows, arches, fabulous decor and fireplace. All that's required for a break away from the hussle and bussel of town and relax in the country.

We were booked for a 14 day Explorers Tour of South Africa with TUI. The Gooderson Kloppenheim Country Estate Hotelwas the seventh hotel that we stayed at during our tour. We were only booked in for the one night so my review is slightly biased.||We pass through Lydenburg as the sun is setting.||All of sudden there is roadworks and the road is pretty rough. Then there is a stop sign across the road and the bus comes to full stop for a few minutes, until some guys remove it. Road is still pretty rough. Oh and now it's dark. I'm sure they must have known about all this roadwork.|We eventually reach the main road and a tarmac surface at last. Fingers crossed no more problems. Well done driver.||The access road to the hotel is long and bumpy. A little disconcerting in the dark.||We arrive at the Gooderson Kloppenheim Country Estate Hotel at 19:00. Shattered.||The hotel looks fabulous it's like something out of an Old Epic Hollywood Robin Hood movie. The room is the size of a very expensively furnished bungalow. We are totally impressed with it. It's the first time I've ever had to shut 6 pairs of curtains in an hotel room.|It was dark when we arrived, and I dont think we got the full benefit of the hotel surroundings.|The evening meal was fabulous, with tasty choices and pleasant company.|It's a pity that it is in the middle of nowhere.|We slept well and after an early rise, had a lovely breakfast.||We are off again, Monday 29th, down the rough road from the hotel to the main road, heading for Johannesburg airport via Pretoria. The hotel is getting better but there are small issues so easily rectified. Ladies restroom just off reception (first place of attention when arriving) has no toilet paper, no hand soap and one basin blocked. But the shocking thing was that there were 2 geese in an enclosure at the petting zoo without somewhere to swim and not a drop of drinking water. Unacceptable! More...

From the highway we had a 10 minute drive on a dirt road which was maintained and accessible with a normal car. At the entrance of the estate we passed through a secure gate and we had a sense of safety. We then snaked up the hill, enjoying the views, when you get all the way to the top you have arrived! Reception welcomed us in and were very helpful, we easily found our room. The rooms are spacious and have some small touches to make you feel at home. A kettle and small fridge was in our room and I recommend taking some extra tea and coffee, milk and snacks. There are no aircons but there was a heater in the bathroom and fan in the bedroom area. Due to the architecture the building retains heat very well. We woke to a beautiful sunrise down the valley, and you can really appreciate the views and the high vantage point. It is a very relaxing place and we decided to try out the spa. We booked the day before and I suggest you do the same as they can get quite busy especially on weekends. It was magnificent! I could really feel the stress leaving my body. The meals side of things is also very good. Breakfast is a buffet style and we soaked in the sun from the east, again, they had put some thought into the design of the place. For supper there is a nice dining area with a fireplace, great atmosphere and cosy.We stayed for 2 nights but if you can stay a bit longer and explore you will not be disappointed. More...

Die grandiose, kilometerweite Aussicht haben wir sehr genossen. Die Einrichtung unseres Appartement hat keinen Wunsch offen gelassen, alles war sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet, das Bett sehr bequem.
