I have had a very bad experience with this contractor, Hutton Pearce. He responded through Bark.com to repair a shower leak. He took his time to inspect the shower area including from underneath through opening the ceiling of the floor below. He then said that instead of just fixing the leak which might only be adequate for a period of time, that he could do a bigger job of renovation that will be more effective and permanent. He emphasized his experience and many years of practice to do the work. I agreed to his $3000 request for the job, including half to be paid upfront. This came to $1695 with the tax which I promptly transferred to him the day he started. He began by dismantling and demolishing the floor of the shower, and brought in his tiles guy to see the area. This led to him making hints of a bigger job that might be needed. I turned the suggestions down requesting only the work he suggested and agreed upon, to be completed. We eventually shook hands on that and he left under the pretext of going to Home Depot. I never saw him again after that. I don’t know if he saw he couldn’t finish the job or that his repair will not work. He never came clean to explain that and didn’t respond to my repeated calls afterwards. I was left with a huge mess in my ensuite, main bedroom and dirt he kept in the garage. I am now using the law to get my money back. The original quote of $3,000 was based on replacing and waterproofing the shower, replacing the floor tile and the bottom row of wall tiles only. After removing the shower glass, walls, and floor, we discovered major hidden issues from the previous installation, including improper waterproofing, mold, and incorrect plumbing connections using SharkBite fittings. The previous contractor cut the floor joists and the floor beneath the shower was patched up. At that point, the job required significantly more work than originally quoted in order to repair the shower properly and safely. I explained that I could not simply patch over these issues, as it would not be a proper repair and could lead to future leaks and damage. You chose not to proceed with the additional work required and demanded I complete the work regardless of the serious concerns I noted above. The $1,500 deposit was applied toward demolition, labor, and inspection work already completed.

This review is for the 2nd visit to take care of the 4th request. Hutton truly sticks to his company's motto. Get it right the first time. The shower cartridge, handle and shower head were changed and now I have a comfortable water temperature! Previously only gave out extremely hot water.

I had initially 2 issues that turned into 4. The 3rd issue would have resulted in more problems later if not taken care off. The 4th was a last minute request. Pearce took care of the first 3 requests in a couple of hours. I wanted the valves on the external taps changed because they were very old and worn out and leaking. This chstomer call for blocked toilet, when i got there the toilet was block, the sink was blocked and broken also the shower was blocked too. Feases every where , i want to leave but I decided to see if i could help because two elderly people was renting the basement. The price aviously change from what was discussed over the phone and i asked her for some rubber gloves. I camera the drain and the pipes were broken in the floor and she new that before calling me, her tenant mentioned it. Horrible person i would not recommend as a client.

He managed to get a stubborn clog that I had in my main floor leading outside .He came prepared with everything, I give him a A++++++ rating
