Attended an appointment for my 10 month old baby. Appointment was at 9.30am and we were not seen by the Dr until after 12pm. No apology or communication from staff informing me that Dr is running behind (or perhaps running this late is just the usual practice?). After waiting this long we were with the Dr for maybe 5 mins and then directed back to reception to pay our fee. Totally disrespectful to your patients with no regard for their time, let alone a mother with a small baby. As a health professional myself I respect the time of my patients and always strive to run on time with my appointments. Very disappointing to be treated this way. I was not sure what to expect coming here after being diagnosed with an eye problem and not getting an answer by other clinics. I have seen few specialists here at Marsden and been to all 3 sites due to needing treatment regularly and to accommodate my work hours. And finally, they managed to get my eye condition under control and I finally know what caused it.All staff from orthoptists to doctors were great and explained everything. Its crazy to think I’d ever get a cataract at 29 years of age and so, desperately wanting my vision back I looked to Marden Eye Specialists. I had 1 consultation with Dr Sam Dance and was sold; didn’t need a second opinion. Given the high risk due to the trauma that happened to my eye, I wanted to go ahead bc again I was desperate even if it meant my eye wont be 100% perfect. Surgery day came and it took longer than expected. The damage in my eye made it tricky for Dr to remove and replace my lens but he made it happen. Im 1 week post op and I am so happy with the results. My vision in my right eye isnt 100% perfect as expected but idc because i have full vision again and my eye isn’t lazy anymore and this is what made me so self conscious.Thank you so much to the Marsden Eye team especially Dr Dance, Sharyn, Dr Robson and Mary for taking care of me. No signs in reception and EXTREMELY RUDE young women at the reception desk where payments are made.A 9.30 appointment which should take no more than 45 mins ended up taking 2 hours. Treating customers as if their time is irrelevant is treating them with contempt!Making money by treating people like they don't matter is not a great way of doing business and the fact that most of your customers are elderly like my mother makes your treatment of them even more despicable. I was getting my eyes lasered today. The blonde woman who works on level 1 where the waiting room is, is by far the most nicest person I have ever met. She was so sweet and kind. My mum told her that I was feeling quite nervous and the woman tells me all these breathing exercises I can do to help my nervous. She taught me how to breathe properly whenever I’m feeling anxious. She then asked if I was feeling ok? and told her I have head ache from the eye drops. She offered me two tablets to help me. She was so nice to me and very nice to my mum. Thank you so much for her kindness. She told me I had nothing to worry about and that I will be fine, and it was. Thank you to her and Dr Coh who are so lovely and friendly. I went in with a referral from my GP and a printout copy of my last tests from another eye surgeon I was not happy with as a reference to see if my eyes where worse than 6 months ago, hence I went back to Maraden because Dr Fitzsimmons is amazing, the reception staff amazing even run off their feet they were kind and professional, I went upstairs handed the young woman my paperwork answered her questions accordingly explained my GP referred me this is just a printout of my last tests as a starting reference, she said she needed to call them I said no you don't I no longer deal with them she was not listening, I then move to the next area to start the general tests I hear 3 people talking again saying I need to call the eye surgeon I thought they didn't listen what do you expect when you have a conveyor belt process of patients, then again the boy i hear on the phone I hear him spouting off my details then says oh she didn't he hangs up the phone these people start discussing me like I wasn't there and I couldn't hear what they said I was most irritated because I knew the young lady had not paid an ounce of attention to what I said and why I was there in the first place, I normally go to Penrith but I chose Parramatta because it was the only day off I had in order to see Dr Fitzimmons. The young staff there need to learn if your going to discuss patients in such a inappropriate manner do it in another room privately not infront of their face.
