In October 2025, I accompanied my mother to a consultation with McCormick Law regarding a visa application. We paid for the initial consultation and explained that she would be accompanying her husband and, as a housewife, would not require a work visa. We were advised that the firm could assist with the application, and a payment of R15,000 was made on 26 October 2025. After payment, there were several delays in communication. We requested confirmation of receipt and only received confirmation several days later. We also requested information regarding document translation and signature requirements, but follow-up were necessary before receiving a response in most occasions. When the application documents were eventually provided, my mother's husband’s surname was incorrectly reflected. My mother emailed to query this issue but did not receive a response. After I read through the document I noticed various other errors and after raising the matter directly with Mr. McCormick, the errors were acknowledged and we were advised that corrected documents would be available when my parents attended the office. However, further corrections were still required when they arrived and looked at the document in person. My parents proceeded to VFS using the booking arranged, through McCormick Law, for the application process. Because English is not their first language, they relied on the guidance provided. At the VFS counter, they were informed that the booking and application were for the incorrect visa application. Since then, we have sent further emails seeking clarification and resolution. Those communications have never been answered, and we have not received a refund of the fees paid as we requested, even though they were at fault as to why the application did not even happen.
