Atika is the best counselor/therapist I have been with. Her understanding of the problem and the ability to break it down into a language that I could understand was commendable. In this world of stress and anxiety I was very fortunate to have come across Atika, I initially had a fear of therapy hearing all these failed cases around me but sessions with Atika were the best thing that I did for my mental health. What do you love most about your job?
I believe every human being can be their authentic self by embracing their good, bad and ugly. We can live a life of purpose & meaning, joy & vitality while experiencing both courage & fear, confidence & self-doubt, calm & anxious. It is about becoming aware of these different parts of ourselves and then learning the skills to manage fear, the self-doubt and the anxiety.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I’m a sensitive person and growing up in the 90’s I felt like a misfit as people around me were more cognitive with focus on behaviour rather than emotions. Therefore, I felt something is wrong with me that I hurt easily! I questioned why can’t I be stronger and did try to change myself only to feel more pain.
This was my motivation to study psychology and more than anything understand myself as I was confused with the messaging I received from others and what I felt inside.
As I have been fortunate to experience other’s life journeys I have come to realise that all we need as humans is a validation of our experience. And that is my approach towards therapy, while I’m trained in different modalities like Person-Centred, Gottman’s Couple Therapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming I use an eclectic approach as every individual is unique.
I have been practicing for 18+ Years including 4 Years in Singapore and I believed it was the right time to launch my own practice in Singapore - I have been blessed with a loyal base of clients who have unlocked their barriers working with me.

Couple Counselling
“When marriages fail, it is not increasing conflict that is the cause. It is decreasing affection and emotional responsiveness...” Sue Johnson
The relationship that gave you joy and fulfillment is now causing pain and disappointment. As the initial honeymoon phase fades and the realities of life and responsibilities take over partners may feel overwhelmed and disconnected.
The things you found attractive in your partner like their carefree, go with the flow attitude now is annoying as you want them to be able to plan the finances and family holidays. The fights seem to be repetitive and you are finding it hard to break the vicious cycle.
Couple’s Therapy will help in break the cycle that leads to anger, frustration, and disconnection, manage conflict in meaningful ways, heal past hurts that happened within the relationship, learn to be seen and heard by one another and establish shared meaning and life goals.
Gottman Couples Therapy is an approach to couples therapy developed by Dr’s. John and Julie Gottman. It's based on over 40 years of research on what makes relationships succeed or fail. The therapy often involves assessment tools, such as questionnaires and interviews, to identify the specific issues within the relationship.
“Successful long-term relationships are created through small words, small gestures, and small acts.” John Gottman
