How do you help your clients achieve their fitness goals?

The Atkins Health squad work off capitalising on three key principles when assessing and three key principles when prescribing. When assessing Atkins Health are looking at the needs of clients, the systems that are affected (neurological/ musculoskeletal/ skeletal/ hormonal/ psychological etc) and the movement patterns that occur as a result. The squad then educate clients on our analysis. The Atkins Health squad believe that through education, we can make you experts of your own condition and fitness journey.

Next is the exercise prescription. Atkins Health create individualised, personalised programs with both visual and written aids to capitalise on the three main principles needed to ensure results. These are compliance to your customised program, focussing on your exercise technique and ensuring that the Atkins Health Squad design a program for your current fitness level and adjusting your program over time as you progress.

What’s the secret to getting the body of your dreams?

Compliance to your customised program is the biggest secret to getting the body of your dreams. Keeping on track with doing your workouts, focussing on your exercise technique and from our end ensuring that the Atkins Health Squad design a program for your current fitness level and adjusting your program over time as you progress.

What do you love most about your job?

The Atkins Health squad all love to help people. It's why they became Exercise Physiologists. All of our team have a passion for health and fitness and working with people. The Squad all love to see their individual clients achieving their health and fitness goals and making a difference in their lives. Ask any of our team about their favourite experiences with their jobs and they will all have a motivating and uplifting story to share.

What inspired you to start your own business?

Our CEO Tobias Atkins wanted to join an Exercise Physiology company that challenged the norm, strived for perfect client care and never stopped evolving! When he couldn't find this he made a pact to himself that he was going to create a company that everyone wanted to work for, everyone wanted to work with and every client wanted to see. A place you walked in a stranger and from the very first day, you walked out a friend. Let's face it, we can't change genetics so family is out of the question! Haha but we would do anything to help a friend.

Why should our clients choose you?

The Atkins Health squad are a team of Exercise Physiologist whom live by the question "why"! Why is a client seeking help, Why are they in discomfort, why choose this exercise, why is this going to help. It is the questions we ask ourselves that allow us to aid our FRIENDS (clients) to results. It's the gift of knowledge we pass on (educate up, not dumb things down). It's the extra personal, individualised efforts we make that help YOU get the results you are looking for. And it's our constant drive of always wanting to get better at our craft that allows us to confidently say together we will achieve!

Personal Trainers FAQs

Expand all

It depends on your end goal. If you’re training for a marathon, you might work out nearly every day of the week. If you’re a low-level beginner, a minimum of three times a week is enough to make a noticeable impact. No matter what you’re working out for, everyone needs rest and recovery days. Without them, your muscles won’t be able to recuperate and grow strong, so remember to factor in some down-time, too!

Pretty much anywhere! The great thing about personal training is that it’s flexible - as long as you have the necessary equipment, you and your instructor can decide to have your sessions from the gym, your home, the park, or even your office if you want to!

Yes! First of all, they will chat with you about your goals, and discuss the best way to achieve them. They should also ask you to fill in a consent form to check that you don’t have any pre-existing health conditions that could impact your exercise. They’ll also carry out a health assessment to get a better idea of your current fitness level, tailoring your workout plan around that.

It's tricky to say, as personal training sessions vary significantly depending on what you want to achieve and the type of workout. Generally, one personal training session tends to last forty-five minutes to one hour. It will start with a gentle warm-up, followed by the nitty-gritty of the actual workout, with stretches to end the session. Remember, warming up and stretching is essential for injury prevention - it’s just as important as the main part of the workout!

A personal trainer needs to be clued up on all aspects of fitness, from the most effective exercise techniques to nutrition and human anatomy- that’s a lot of responsibility! You need to make sure your professional is suitably qualified for the job. After all, you shouldn’t cut corners when it comes to investing in your health. Make sure your trainer has the minimum qualifications required to practice. In the UK, this is the Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification.

Absolutely! Online personal training has become increasingly popular as more people are looking to maintain their fitness during lockdowns and gyms closing. As long as you and your personal trainer have a strong internet connection and a device to stream on like a laptop, tablet or smartphone, there's no reason why your session can't be delivered remotely.
