mamama®

After a good 35 years toiling on Arabian soil, my wife and I were looking forward to sink into our golden sunset years. One of our pre-requisites was a simple cozy home in our native village. Tucked away in the bosom of nature, in our small modest village of Ayiroor in Kerala, I had a small plot of land overlooking a serene river that was apt for our dream home. During our search for a suitable architect to design our retirement home, this bright couple Anna and Anoop practicing under the name "mamama" presented themselves. Though a startup at the time, we decided to entrust our dreams into their hands, which turned out to be our best retirement decision.
Our brief was simple - we need a basic home with ample open spaces, few bedrooms for our children and families, that could spill out into a large common area for family time together. The house should be fashioned in the traditional Kerala style with timeless tile roofs and spacious verandahs all around, to enable soak in the splendor of nature and enjoy the lazy serenity of the river flowing by. We insisted on simplistic yet practical designs and usage of local craftsmen and materials. Despite the overall simplicity, the house should be equipped with modern and age-friendly amenities. All this to be achieved with minimum disruption to the existing vegetation and plantations on the plot.
Although we had our initial apprehensions about startups, we were soon at ease and indeed impressed by the uncanny skills of this young couple in understanding exactly what we had in mind and the speed with which they were able to produce multiple design options to choose from. Mamama was able to bring together a very efficient team of local artisans, contractors and fit-out specialists to realize our dream house within reasonable timelines and within budgets. All furniture were custom designed by them to our taste and produced by local carpenters.
We were quite impressed with their level of engagement and interactions with us throughout the project, to ensure that there was no room for error or rework. Our being away from the country was no hindrance to progress, as online communications with mamama were seamless and they actually helped us see our dream unfold in real time through timely progress reports and renderings . Despite the distances, site supervision by mamama was timely and efficient and also effective through stringent remote monitoring.
The end result was a lovely resort style home, cuddled in lush green vegetation, overlooking the softly flowing river - seen not only from the spacious verandahs but from almost every room.......it is here that we will spend our sunset years in pure serenity.....and we will always be thankful to mamama for this perfect rendering of our dream....all the way from Design to Delivery..! We absolutely loved working with Anna and Anoop from mamama for our house interior design, decoration and furnishing project at Mangalore. They helped us make our retirement house our dream home!
