Discovered this sweet little place called MajGhar in Thane today. Tastefully decorated, it is manned by a bunch of happy people, led by an ever helpful Roshan. We had a Surmai Thali and Prawns Thali. Both very delicious and well cooked in traditional coconut gravy and spices. I'm told the place is owned by a lady named Pallavi. Congratulations Ma'am. Visited this place basis the reviews on Google. Went there for a lunch today with my son and my dad. Since it was a lunch time, no one other customers were there at the hotel. So was little skeptical as we were the only one. For starters we ordered Prawns Fry and Solkadhi. We also ordered Surmai Thali and Chicken Thali. Must appreciate the food quality. It was spot on. We visited this place based on the positive ratings. Date: 14-Apr-2023 Time: Around 10 PM IST I visited this place with my wife. We ordered a chicken thali with an extra bhakri and decided to share it as we visited this restaurant for the first time. Delivery Time:- The food was served after 45-50 mins but the extra bhakri was not served. It was served after another 20 mins. Later we added one more bhakri and it was served in 5 mins which is okay. Due to the delivery time we were afraid to order any more items on the menu. Food Quality:- The presentation of the thali was very good. The chicken was cooked well. Bhakri was good. The best of all was Solkadhi. Ambience:- It is a small size restaurant but very well decorated. The ambience is decent. In fact the outside seating is also covered with a floral ceiling. Overall:- The quality of food is good but the delivery time spoiled the overall experience. I understand the justification that they prepare fresh food but I cannot wait for close to an hour for the food to be served. The other tables also had the same concerns. This restaurant is in Waghbil/Kavesar area in Thane. Visited this place yesterday for lunch. Opted for mutton thali. The gravy was nice and spicy however the meat was not of good quality and it was undercooked. Sol Kadhi was the only saving grace. But it was served chilled hence no way of finding out if it was freshly made. This is a small restaurant. The place is cramped and it was stinking while I was there. They do have some space outside where few more guests could be accommodated in the evenings. Apart from me there was one more customer in the restaurant. There was only one staff who was handling everything - taking orders, serving food, managing zomato/swiggy, phone calls etc. He was pretending to be super super busy. This place calls itself a seafood and malvani restaurant. But the person whom they have employed is a hindi speaking north indian. While both the customers in the restaurant as well as those enquiring on phone were speaking with this person in marathi, this guy did not even make any attempt to reply in marathi and did not show any courtesy by saying that he doesn't know the language but simply continued to speak in hindi. After few minutes he started playing hindi songs keeping the volume very high. I am sure that this hero is not aware that just like malvani is a type of cuisine belonging to Maharashtra, malvani also happens to be one of the languages belonging to and spoken widely in Maharashtra. The behaviour of this staff is certainly rude and objectionable. He needs to be made aware about the languages, food and culture of Maharashtra just as he needs to be told that he should wait for customers to finish their food before he starts clearing the plates on the table. I had to tell him that I was yet to finish my solkadhi as he had already started clearing the table. While I was having my food this staff asked me , "aap kaha se aaye hain". We visited the outlet on 28/3/23. Ordered a Surmai Thali,which was good. We took home a chicken tikka parcel. Hugely disappointed with the quantity for the price we paid and the pieces were burnt, tho the waiter assured us it would be abt 20 pieces, which was not and burnt chicken! !! Went with my family and relatives who came from Chennai. We ordered 3 plates fish thali and 3 vegetarian food. The food was prepared fresh and was excellent in taste.
