Full service interior design
Kate Kerin Interiors offers flexible design solutions tailored to your project. Design Bundles provide expert guidance for furnishings, colour, art and window treatments in manageable 20-hour blocks, while larger renovations, furnishing and downsizing projects are individually scoped to include planning, selections, installation and styling. Fees are discussed following your initial consultation.
Procurement (Furniture, artworks, accessories etc)
Choosing the right finishes, furniture and artwork can feel overwhelming. Kate Kerin Interiors sources furniture, fixtures, flooring, accessories and art for individual rooms or entire homes. Services can include shopping together or on your behalf, and can be incorporated into a Design Bundle. Projects generally begin with an Initial Consultation, with pricing tailored to your scope and needs.
Styling
Sometimes thoughtful styling is all that’s needed to transform a room. Kate styles individual spaces or entire homes for everyday living or sale preparation, sourcing accessories, soft furnishings and artwork to create a polished, cohesive result. Following an Initial Consultation, styling plans and procurement budgets are tailored to your needs. Styling fees start from $850, plus purchased items.
Colour Consultation
A colour consultation is a 2-hour in-home discussion covering paint, wallpaper and wall finishes. Kate provides tailored colour guidance to create a cohesive, elegant home that reflects your style and removes the stress of decision-making. Consultations are $450 prepaid. A $50 travel fee applies beyond 20km from North Sydney, with longer distances quoted individually.
Design consultation
Whether you're planning a renovation, furnishing a new apartment or simply need help choosing colours and finishes, an in-home consult is the perfect starting point. We walk through your space, explore ideas and priorities, and I provide practical and tailored advice. After our meeting, I send a written summary and if you'd like to move forward, a proposal outlining the scope, fees and next steps.

What’s your interior design process?
The best way to learn about my process is to visit my website, which clearly outlines the various ways you can work with me. Briefly though, we usually start with a 2-hour, in-home design consultation (cost and booking links available on website). This will inform our work together - sometimes we can knock everything over in the Initial Consultation, and other times the Consultation will lead to a further design proposal. From there, we set a timeline, budget and design expectations. Your design proposal will contain all details of the stages of the project, costs involved and what you can expect. Every project is unique, so the process can vary depending on your needs.
Which interior design styles can you cater for?
I cater for all styles. By looking at my website and instagram account you'll get a feel for my own style - sophisticated and serene, with lots of neutrals on the walls and floors but utilising bold colour in artworks and accessories. But my goal is to work with YOUR style, whatever that might be, rather than imposing my look on you. I have completed work that is very contemporary and sleek in style, I've worked in period homes and respected their heritage, I've done lots of coastal/Hamptons designs and many more. Whatever your style is, I can adapt and assist you in maximising the benefit of your project.
What do you love most about your job?
The design process is often the most exciting part of any renovation or new build, but it can also be stressful. I love smoothing the way for clients - creating calm out of chaos. My team of trades is experienced and reliable, so I'm always keen to introduce them to clients (although I'm also happy to work with your trades if you prefer). We start with an idea, a conversation, inspiration pics and then we move towards implementation and finally - the reveal! Seeing the delight on the faces of my clients is so rewarding, and I love creating a gorgeous home and bringing clients' ideas and inspiration to life.
What inspired you to start your own business?
During COVID I had to step back from my 30-year executive arts position. I took the opportunity to study interior design, something I'd long been interested in pursuing. I had renovated many homes with my husband, and knew I had skill and experience. Studying for my Diploma of Interior Design convinced me that I should share these skills with others, and so Kate Kerin Interiors was born! I've loved every minute.
Why should our clients choose you?
I am skilled, reliable, fun to work with and honest. I am also flexible and happy to work within the parameters you set - whether they be budget, timeframe, design intent or anything else. I'll always tell you my views, but at the end of the day you are in charge - I'm not the kind of designer who insists on everything being done "my way" (there are a lot out there that do!) You can trust that when you hire me, you'll get the results you are looking for, at a reasonable price.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
If I am unwell I will not visit a client's home or worksite, and will reschedule (and I would expect them to do the same). If requested, I am happy to wear a mask and distance from clients. I am also happy to observe any other health-related requests made by clients.
