County Down Stoves and Flues

‘20 Certificate of Excellence

We are the only company in Northern Ireland trusted by the renowned British manufacturer CLEARVIEW STOVES to supply and fit their famous products in the Province and into the South of Ireland. Clearview Stoves have an enviable following of happy clients throughout the world, with many reviews available on www.whatstove.co.uk. Built in Shropshire with Welsh steel for over 31 years, the stoves are perhaps a little more expensive than some of the cheap imported stoves available on the market place, but the unique double glazed door for unparraleled view of the flames and the clever door adjustment ensuring an airtight seal, for long and controlled burns with reduced fuel consumption, then clearly they are worth every penny of the investment to keep your home cosy and warm through the colder months. In addition to the installation of Clearview Stoves, we also carry out a lot of chimney repairs for loss adjusters and insurance companies throughout the province. We are sole agents for Eldfast in Northern Ireland which is a product that is a non invasive method of sealing flues that are cracked or damaged. We have all the equipment needed to carry out assessments with CCTV and smoke tests and can liaise with insurers where necessary to prepare reports and carry out repairs. The business was set up by Wendy and David Campbell, and is a small family operation that is focussed on customer satisfaction at all times. As registered chimney technicians for 29 years, we have all the experience we need to ensure a professional and safe installation. David is Chairman of the Northern Ireland Association of Chimney Sweeps and trains chimney technicians throughout the country. He has presented seminars for N.I Building Control and NHBC and we work very closely with a good number of architects helping with design construction of chimney and flue systems. David also sat on a steering committee with the NIHSE to launch the Carbon Monoxide Awareness campaign. We have our own team of installers, who work for us. There is no grey area over responsibility for your job. We take care of all aspects, hold your hand through the decision making, carry out the entire installation and then light the stove before we leave you, knowing the stove is in safe hands of a new owner that knows how to get the best from the new addition to you home. In the first instance you can call for advice, pop in to our dedicated showroom, but most of the time, the easiest way to communicate with us is to send us an email outlining what you would like to achieve. Some photos of the fireplace you may or may not have already, the outside of the house so we can work out flue requirements, and perhaps some images if you have them of what you have in mind are all helpful. From these images we can put together some ideas of what is possible and maybe get some images back you you of work we have done that might be of interest. We hope to hear from new clients through Bark, and promise to respond as quickly as we can to enquiries. Best wishes from the CDSF team

What do you love most about your job?

Meeting new clients, demonstrating to them what makes the Clearview Stove and services we offer different to anything else is on the market, and when that sale is confirmed, and we have the new stove installed, watching their faces light up with pleasure knowing this new addition to the family is going to keep them cosy for decades. We are very passionate about what we do. It is our main aim to educate first, guide with experience and knowledge that has come from years of sitting on hearths as a chimney sweep listening to what has worked and what hasn't and imparting sound advice. Remember that anyone can sell you a box. It seems every hardware shop, fireplace shop, plumbers merchants and builders suppliers are selling some kind of stove or another, but often it takes someone with a background in the chimney industry to steer you in the right direction without risking making a very expensive mistake.

What inspired you to start your own business?

My Mum and Dad were self employed. I worked with them from 14 years of age. In 1989 my Dad realised there was a market place for chimney sweeping so at the age of 18 I trained with the NIACS and became the youngest independent chimney sweep in Ireland at the time. Others had taken over from family members businesses but I was the first to set up from scratch at such a young age and build up from nothing.

Why should our clients choose you?

There is nothing to say there are other companies out there that can offer similar products and services. After 29 years in this industry it would be a bit naive to think that others couldn't copy our business model. We have been flue lining every stove installation for 20 years, when others still today suggest it is not required. Clearview insist on this as part of the installation and we would not dream of anything less. Many companies are going through the steep learning curve of installing flues and stoves that we have gone through years before stoves became trendy and every Tom, Dick and Harry claimed to be an expert or specialist overnight. We would strongly suggest a trip to speak to us at the showroom. You will see the stoves lit, so the Clearview can sell itself, and after a few minutes of talking to us, you will realise we are different.
