A wonderful gem of a place. Fantastic and friendly. We went their with our 11 month old son and they had everything we needed. Even toys. The view from the window was lovely and there’s free parking behind the place too. The food was great. Artisan breads and salads. But best of all was how friendly everyone was. We called in having been recommended the deli for breakfasts, and buffets. We had the vegetarian breakfasts, they were just amazing, neither of us can say we have had anything as good anywhere in the country. That’s a bold statement, but it’s true. We travel all over with work and experience different types of eateries. They were very busy and with just three staff working, they were so efficient and polite with all the customers. We’re local to Matlock, but didn’t realise this place was here with so much on offer, really need to start using you regularly. You were so helpful, thank you. Although we have lived locally for almost 3 years this was our first visit to Darley Dale Deli. We enjoyed a delicious lunch of Quiche and Darley Deli Salad. Despite being understaffed everyone entering was greeted, and if a delay in taking their order was inevitable then this was explained and appologiesed for, despite all this the proprietor still made time to chat with Kieth an obvious local who enjoyed the company. The panini I had was not 2 degrees cooler than the surface of the sun and so was enjoyable straight away, served with a delicious apple and ginger salad from the deli, my partner's BLT was made with thick and tasty bacon. The filter coffee was not just drinkable but extremely palatable and made at the correct temperature. Yes I am a bit of a geek but having helped run a coffee shop and bistro I appreciate not only the obvious commodities of food and dedrinbut everything else that goes into making a small food business a great place to eat. That's a difficult one to answer because our menu is varied, we love to make high quality, rustic food, homemade quiches, home roasted ham, fabulous salads and beautifully presented platters. Authentic, homemade food. We also specialise in Afternoon Teas for large and small parties.
