What do you love most about your job?

As a behavior consultant specializing in aggression and other major behavioral problems, I love seeing the client and dog bond repaired. It is so challenging to live with a difficult dog, I know I have been there! So watching people have some relief through the behavioral changes in their dog is such an honor and keeps me going.

Now, I love being able to provide high-quality behavior modification and training to dogs, no matter where the client is located with virtual sessions. There are many locations in this country without access to certified, skilled dog trainers. It is sad when people struggle with their pet, due to the lack of resources. With my virtual sessions that is no longer a barrier to great training and transformative change for your dog.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I owned my own business from 2004 to 2016, closing it only to move from Illinois to Oregon. It was amazing over those 12 years to see my business grow from a single proprietor to owning a training facility with staff. When I moved to Oregon I started working for a Veterinary Behaviorist as the staff trainer, eventually becoming the Behavior Modification and Training Coordinator (AKA Head Trainer).

In 2021 I decided to take a step back from the clinic and go back to running my own virtual business. I wanted to be able to reach more clients and dogs. At the clinic, I was limited to helping and working with clients that saw our veterinarians. There are many cases that need the help of a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant but either don't live close to our clinic or don't need to be under the care of a Veterinary Behaviorist.

So here I am helping clients and dogs with severe behavior issues, virtually and loving it!

Why should our clients choose you?

I have been active with dog training for 25+ years, 22 years as a positive reinforcement trainer, and 18 years as a professional dog trainer. I am a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant (with IAABC), a Certified Professional Dog Trainer - Knowledge and Skills Assessed (with CCPDT). I provide a wealth of experience. I always have creative, customized solutions and fun with training. Remember we choose to live with dogs because we love them! I'll help you find that love again for your difficult dog.

I am also a
Fear Free Certified Trainer/Level 1 Elite Professional
LowStress Certified Trainer

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

Actually, I ONLY provide dog training services remotely! It has been the best outcome from COVID shutdowns, was being creative and learning how to dog training with great success over Zoom. I LOVE it, the dogs and the people are less stressed and I get to see things and how they actually are in the dog's everyday life.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

At the beginning of COVID, all dog trainers were forced to move to online, virtual sessions. Very few trainers knew how to navigate the new way of training. It was a quick dive into the deep end of the pool! When I came back up for air and things settled down I now knew that virtual dog training is incredibly effective, and I was not going back to in-person training.

Being able to provide services where the behavior is happening without adding any stress to the dog or the clients is a game changer! Dogs are mastering skills quicker. Clients have more time to devote to training since they are not commuting to a training facility. Everyone is more relaxed and having fun with their training.

Not knowing it at the time, but COVID shutdowns were a gift to teach me how easy and effective virtual, online dog training truly is for everyone involved!
