Gary is fantastic, you can tell he really enjoys what he does and he is great at it! Our dogs, who previously were best buds, had started viciously fighting and we were so upset and SO scared that we were going to have to possibly re-home one or live with them separated, neither of which was an acceptable option for us. We hired Gary to help us, and within days of our first session our dogs were showing definite improvement. Within a week or two, they were back to playing together with minimal issues, and within a couple months they stopped all fighting and are now back to being best buds again!! I can not say enough good things about Gary. I love his techniques and the way he works with the dogs (and the humans). The dogs respond to him incredibly well, which is always a good sign. His methods are intuitive and make sense and are easy to follow. He also models the training and (nicely) corrects you so that you are doing things the right way. Gary is also incredibly personable and we enjoy his sessions and never feel like they are a chore. He has never made us feel guilty for working with our dogs less than we intended to which is really appreciated. As with all training, the end result is going to reflect the work that the owners put in, but I can say that Gary has given us all of the tools and direction we need to train our dogs and we, and our two happy dogs, are very glad that we decided to go with Duke Dog Training/Coaching. I first needed her because my dog was reactive to other dogs in the neighborhood. It was so miserable walking him that I just wouldn’t walk him. Not only did Trena help leash train my dog but she was also able to stop his reactivity. I now can walk him and he does not react to any dog. He actually can now go to dog parks and can take him off leash at parks to play ball and comes back when I call him. Highly recommend Jayce and Atticus for any kind of dog training. They went above and beyond for our german shephard/ husky, Oso. We were at the point where we could not leave him home alone without him trying to escape or leave something damaged. Now, we can leave him home with a peace a mind that he will be at our house without leaving any damage. We also were not able to have him off leash due to the likely chance he would not listen and come back. He now has excellent recall and does amazing off leash. Thank you so much for all your help! I have a unique connection, a true understanding and respect for all animals. Because of this "gift", 20 yrs ago, dogs began to seek me out and "talk" to me. They were asking for my help. At first I didn't understand, but now I know, this is the reason I am on the planet. It is my gift to share.... to help people have a the best relationship possible with their dogs.
There is no quick fix, no magic pill, but it is not as hard as you may think. Dogs are like children, they need boundaries. Your dog will begin to develop self esteem as they safely explore within the boundaries that I will help you set up for them. If you are consistent, follow through and mean it, using my methods, you will have a calmer, more balanced and happier dog where everyone gets their needs met....;) Be patient with yourselves and your dog. There is always a learning curve that should be respected and understood. I believe that there are no "bad" dogs, only those that don't understand what is expected of them and in desperate need of an authority figure to lovingly show them.
