I had my birthday party at Velvet Brooklyn and it was the perfect space for my theme and the vibe I wanted for my milestone birthday. I had a purple themed affair and the event manager, Lily was so helpful and quick with responses from day 1. I initially planned to rent out just the back room which is gives off a nice sexy and low key but, fancy vibe. Then, because I rented a photobooth, I decided to rent out the entire venue for the evening. The price to rent the back room as well as entire venue space is very affordable for the area. Lily helped me with a signature drink that was purple of course, and she was flexible in letting me go to the venue at short notice to get measurements etc for the cute couches and lounge chairs they have in the back room. On the day of event, I ended up forgetting table cloth and wire racks for my food, but Lily saved the day and had a beautiful and sleek table cloth for my cake display and was able to find some wire racks to keep my food warm. My guests were blown away with the decor of the party and the space itself, they loved the drinks and had a really great time. I had so many compliments. This was the perfect location for my husband's surprise 40th. The staff and service was exceptional. The owner and manager were great and super helpful with the event planning and throughout the night ensuring things ran smoothly. I also ordered a custom box of cigars that truly impressed. I didn't even order anything but wanted to leave them some love anyway. I came while waiting for a table at a nearby restaurant and despite both me and my friend getting only water, the bartender was extremely polite and engaging. The ambiance is smoky (not literally - despite the cigar store Indian at the front), rich, dark, velvety. The menu looked appetizing, and they were playing funk. I'll definitely be back! More...

Conveniently located next to Peter Luger's this lovely lounge is a nice place to go before or after dinner. We went on a FREEZING cold Sunday night in January. I was first struck by the lovely atmosphere. The bartender was wonderful - warm, friendly, helpful with Qs, made delicious drinks. I told her I loved scotch. This was a quaint little spot in BK, we came for the live Reggae band for my friends birthday celebration. We missed the happy hour but the they did have a $5 Sangria special all night that we partook in. It was fairly empty, not sure what days are the best to come but we appreciated the band singing happy birthday to my friend. Velvet is ideal for hosting a party! My wife and I recently had a Friday night welcome reception for the out of town guests for our wedding. The reception went off perfectly! We had 70 guests at the event. The Velvet staff was extremely helpful and easy to work with throughout the event planning process. We had a Welcome Cocktail party here the night before my son's wedding for our out of town guests and the wedding party. It was a fantastic party. The staff at Velvet Brooklyn couldn't have been more helpful. They helped in numerous ways that were above and beyond our contracted agreement to make the evening run smoothly.    We had passed appetizers and desserts. I went here for drinks and appetizers with a friend. The drinks are good, creative and strong. They are well flavored with a good contrast. We had light appetizers which were also good. We sat in the back lounge area and the drink service wasn't the best. My friend had to keep getting up and going to the bar for additional rounds as the waitress only bought us our first round when she took our food order. They hold a credit card as many establishments so to run a tab. Parking was street parking and was hard to find on a Tuesday night. I can't imagine in the weekends. There was live music which was enjoyable and you were free to dance and move. It appears that other local musicians being there instruments and sub in at will which was cool. I would go back again if in the area but wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to make the trip (I live in Queens). More...

I had the pleasure of celebrating my 29th Birthday at Velvet Brooklyn. I anticipated a large party straggling in the entire night which is exactly what happened. The Velvet team was able to cater to the entire party as well as catch the late comers so I could meet my very reasonable bar minimum. It was an amazing experience and the music was BOMB. I LOVE the atmosphere( part of the reason I picked the place). One of my best birthday experiences and stress free. You guys were amazing! I recommend Velvet Brooklyn for all occasions. Velvet Brooklyn hosted me and 11 of my dear friends for our annual holiday get together on Friday night.  Booking with Lily was seamless (about 1. 5 weeks before the date all due to another venue canceling on us last minute).  The day of, Phillip and his staff were super attentive and accommodating.  We never had to wait for a drink and our snacks came out right away!  The music was great and never too loud that we couldn't hear ourselves speak.  Mostly hip hop.  The venue itself is super cozy and sexy.  We had a semi-private reservation in the back bar area. Best days to go are Friday and Saturday but more so Friday. BUT they have things to do during the week(video game night, etc. .) Drinks are cheap but strong. Small, intimate space with 2 bars and some sofas. The band was great and the beers were just at the right price range. They don't serve food, but there are some decent snacks.
