I've been seeing Bianca for years now. She's the only person I trust to do my color (roots and balayage). She's incredibly kind, patient, and knowledgeable. Did I mention that she is AMAZING with hair? She tells me exactly what I need to do to maintain both my color and my style, and I consistently receive compliments. I love Nicole! She's a sweetheart. I originally found Vanity Salon through Yelp. Their raving reviews sealed the deal for me. I came in about six months before my wedding because I have one patch of gray that I wanted to "disappear" without having to get a full head of highlights or dye. Nicole took one look at me at my consultation and told me it was an easy fix. We tried it out with plenty of time to spare before the wedding, and she was right; the grays did disappear without changing my natural look. I've since gone back for touch-ups, a glaze, and haircuts. My wedding has come-and-gone (it was September 16th), but I love this salon so much that I will continue coming here. Who knows? I have been coming here for a few years and continue to be satisfied. Alyssa took care of my long hair without damaging it, then did a great job adding unusual colors to it. I have a great cut, healthy ends, and peekaboo blue and purple highlights. I am a professional, so having well-maintained layers and appropriate balayage lets me get away with the fun hues underneath without looking too young or messy.My hair was waist-length and brown for many years. I never got it professionally cut because salons treated it like normal length hair, which means they yanked on it while wet, pulled it out, and even let it get into the drain during the wash. Alyssa was very respectful of my request to keep it long - no pressure to 'normalize' it or secretly snip off more inches while I wasn't looking. She worked with me to trim it, add some layers, and lighten the top to keep me looking youthful. When I came in one day and surprised her by saying I wanted blue highlights, she was totally up for it. I walked out with a secret underlayer of blue. Over my sessions, I've changed it up in hue and added purple, etc, and it looks wonderful, even when it fades. I look forward to my appointments. More...

i go to antonia :) she's really sweet and kind. im a little shy and quiet, but she makes me feel comfortable.  i don't really talk much, but she'll stir up a conversation and go out of her way to get to know me. she knows what i like and what i don't like. she knows i like my hair really short, just a little above my shoulders and how i like it exactly. i've been to quite a few salons, but antonia is the only one that seems to know my style so she's pretty good at what she does. I won't go into detail about how another local salon screwed up my hair- but when I called Vanity at 9am on Saturday to tell them about my situation they got me in for a consult with AJ at 9:45. Ten minutes after sitting down in AJs chair he had already taken my ultraviolet purple (yes, you read that right) hair back down to a nice ashy blonde. By the time I left about an hour later I was back to blonde and I will never let someone other than AJ touch my hair again!!!! I can't thank him enough- he is wonderful and so good at his job. I called and got a same-day appointment for highlights that should have been done a month ago. Antonia had an opening and did a bayalage for my thick, wavy, dark blond hair. I am not understating that I have not had such a natural-looking color job since a bayalage in Paris a few years ago. So far this has been the best salon that I've been to. They were very accommodating, as I didn't have an appt but were able to get me a stylist immediately. I had a wonderful experience at Vanity! I called a day prior because I desperately needed color and a cut. I have been going to a salon in the city and my stylist is on maternity leave and needed my hair done. They made me an appointment with Antonia, I went the night before for a consultation and she really knew her stuff so I felt comfortable with her. Vanity Salon was the BEST choice I could have made for my wedding day. Danielle did a gorgeous, romantic up do for both me and my maid of honor. I wanted her to incorporate a braid on one side and she did it flawlessly. My hair stayed up the entire day and night--perfect for photographs. All of my bridesmaids loved their up-dos and blowouts. Deana did a fabulous job with make up. Danielle is also an excellent colorist--she colored my hair about a week before the wedding and matched my natural color for me. Everyone on staff there is so friendly and professional, and the salon itself has a great atmosphere for a bridal party with an elegant space to set up drinks and breakfast. Came here for a blowout with Antonia. My first time here. Everyone is very friendly who works here and the salon is beautiful. Black and white is the motif. Before coming to this salon, I have had the same hairdresser for 5 years and was hesitant about a new place. I moved recently to the Montclair area and needed a new stylist and saw this salon/the great reviews on Yelp. It was nothing short of perfect! Was referred to Vanity by a hair stylist at a blow out bar. Her hair looked great so I asked where she went. She told me about Bianca and I was excited for my first visit. Bianca was very knowledgeable and from our first consultation I trusted her and knew she was going to get me to the color I wanted. Having very dark hair and having had a very bad overly processed ombre I knew she would have to performing a miracle. She explained that it would be a slow process to get my hair to a healthy stage and close to the color I wanted. For session one we got very good progress. I love the color we achieved. I am in my early twenties and have been jumping from salon to salon trying to find the perfect fit for me. I found Vanity on yelp and called for a free consultation. Upon entering the salon for my consultation, my stylist was waiting for me at the reception desk and greeted me with open arms. She was super friendly, happy, and professional. I told her that I am looking to re-do my outgrown highlights that had been done months ago. She listened to all my concerns and told me what she proposed to do. I made an appointment for a week later. I waited less than five minutes and was offered coffee while waiting and again while my hair was being dyed. The place is beautiful and all the staff was super friendly! Once my highlights were done, I wasn't happy with the color so they happily did it again free of charge until I liked the color. The professionalism, talent and warmth of this salon is second to none! I've had services from cuts and blow outs, to single process and highlights and even extensions at this salon and have never been disappointed. What is even more amazing is the fact that the staff at Vanity literally SAVED my hair from severe damage and then turned my hair into an absolute dream! Went there for the first time tonight. Great salon. Very busy and perhaps a little pricey but I found it worth it. I had a single process, a glaze, and a trim. Was 160 and change. I paid less in queens but never received the great service I had tonight. Antonia is one up from a junior stylist I believe and was friendly, knowledgeable, and talented. The color came out very nice and the trim also. The decor is trendy and lots of product on the walls. I was offered a glass of wine and cookies . Nothing wrong with that! Wow, I have truly been missing out.  After moving to Montclair a few months ago and giving up my life-long out-of-touch stylist, I was in need of a hair makeover.  After reading Yelp reviews, I called to schedule an appointment with a master stylist and the receptionist recommended Alyssa and I am SO happy that she did. Upon meeting Alyssa, I instantly knew I was in good hands.  She is sweet, professional, knowledgable, and receptive to what her clients actually want.  She had a lot of fixing to do with my color and did the BEST partial balayage highlights on my hair.  I have darker blonde hair and she was able to restore it from dull and brassy to bright and blonde again in one session.  She also gave me a great cut with lots of layers and explained to me how to do it at home.  Alyssa also recommended some great products that Vanity carries in order to maintain my color and restore some damage that my hair has suffered.  She has beautiful hair herself and she definitely knows what she's doing; I happily took every single one of her recommendations.  I'm so happy that I've found Alyssa and Vanity; its nice to have a reliable stylist who guarantees a great job every time!  Additionally, every single person in Vanity was super accommodating and constantly asking me if I needed anything.  The salon itself is beautiful, modern and looks relatively new.  Any place that offers cookies and wine is a step above in my book!  I will be back for sure! This is a nice salon, located on a side street off Bloomfield Avenue, with parking on Midland Avenue or in a parking lot behind the salon ( bring some quarters for either option! )I was pleasantly greeted by the receptionist, waited a few minutes then introduced to my stylist, the owner, Nicole.  She was very professional and I felt like she really listened to my concerns about my hair (I'm in recovery from a bad cut & color). Nicole made several suggestions and explained it would take a few cuts to get it back to where I wanted it to be. I'd much rather do a, "less is more" on a first cut with someone new then come back in a few weeks. I've learned the hard way that this is the best approach, albeit more expensive. Wow - that's all I can say. My whole life I've been going to my family stylist for all cuts, colors, and hair changes. That is until I had a dye job that went wrong. I continued going to the same salon for cuts, but vowed to never again go to anyone but a color specialist for any color changes. I decided I wanted to freshen up my look and add some life to my hair with some natural balayage and I embarked on the search for the perfect salon! Definitely a scary thing when it comes to hair because you WANT to make sure you know what you're getting into. Vanity was as good as everyone says (actually -- better)! They have different levels of stylists which allows you to manage your budget. From associate to master you can decide the level and price for whatever you want done for your hair! The styling of the salon is BEAUTIFUL. Everything is black and white damask all around -- heaven for girls. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable which made me super confident and comfortable being there for my first time. There's also parking in the back which is super convenient in Montclair! The staff is even kind enough to go feed the meter for you if you go over on time. My stylist was AJ and I would recommend him to anyone! He is reasonably priced and is so talented!
